Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Good lightweight flannel

I consider myself a bit of a flannel connoisseur, having had various flannular experiences over the years, but I've never tried any of the REI flannels. I recently picked one of these up at an REI garage sale for ~$12, and it was WELL worth the price. It isn't the warmest flannel out there, but it's good for a moderately chilly morning dog walk and it does seem to deter wind fairly well. The material feels a bit more 'rigid' than a typical soft flannel, which is something I generally prefer as it feels like it could function fairly well as a good mid or outer layer in moderate cold. The chest pockets are also very sturdy and very deep -- my typical complaint with flannels is that the chest pockets never fold down properly after a wash, while these stay flat against the pocket whether buttoned or otherwise. In comparing to my Fjord flannels, it doesn't quite stack up against the midweight in terms of warmth, but it far outclasses the lightweight Fjord in seemingly every category (especially the single chest pocket which can barely fit a small pair of sunglasses).

SRI LANKA CUT……

SRI LANKA CUT PATTERN…..Not for USA BUILD….I bought the xl shirt and had to return it because the forearm part of the sleeves were just shy of skin tight. I am average build not skinny or big. It was a big bummer because the colors, pattern, fabric and overall quality of the seams were very nice. Why can’t the designers tailor to USA standards and REI demand that the factories stick to certain patterns for proper fit.

Perfect gift!

Good quality shirt. Bought it for a birthday gift and it was well received. I couldn’t tell prior to ordering if it was more orange or red. I wanted red when I bought it, but it turns out that his favorite color is orange so it worked out well. This color is unique because it falls in between. More of a burnt orange, but not quite the same. I included some pics so you can see it’s true color better.

Beware of Sizing, Otherwise Stellar Flannel! 🤙

I've only had this bad boy for a few hours now, but I'm VERY stoked with it now that I have the Medium/Tall size! 🙌 I'm 6'3" at 170 lbs, so I take clothing fitment pretty seriously as it's not often easy to find clothes that fit my taller, slimmer torso, but the Medium/Tall is exactly what I was hoping for! That said, beware the other sizes - I bought a Large first because the Medium/Tall was out of stock, and boy was I disappointed - the sleeves were at least 2" too short and the body was easily 3-4" too wide even with a shirt or two underneath 😳😩 So if you've got some height, minimal belly, and aren't bench-pressing 350lbs, you're going to want the Medium or Medium/Tall. It's actually even an inch or so too long, but I think it'll likely shrink to the perfect size after a wash/dry cycle. Highly recommend the build quality, style, and coloring! Thanks REI!

Great Quality and Feel

I love this flannel shirt. Wish I had bought more. I normally wear tall but they were out so I bought an XXL because that gives a little extra in length. I am fairly tall with decent build (no beer belly here!) and it worked out well. I rarely button my cuffs when working, I usually roll them up at least partially so the little bit of length that wasn't there on the tall wasn't missed and the overall length wasn't bad either. I liked the fit on my shoulders and chest, it was fitted without being tight and it was big in the waist (Normal problem for me, I have to tailored down in the waist on my shirts). Works great for logging, splitting firewood, hiking and going to the hardware store

Great fit but poor durability

I love the shirt and own 3 of these shirts but I can only give them 1 star because 2 of them developed a hole in the elbow a week after the 1 year return window closed. I only wear them in casual office environments. While I think the fit, length and feel of the shirt is great, there is an issue with the quality.

Sizing is off. Size up for sure.

Sizing is off by one whole size. Large actually equals medium. Stayed size measurements do not match with product’s measurements. Flannel is much thinner than expected. This is not a quality. Definitely a try it before you buy it product and certainly not worth the wait price.

Real Pockets!

My new favorite shirt. I like the comfy 100% cotton material - use as a layer in colder weather, but light enough to wear when it's not as cold. The top button is a snap rather than a "normal" button, so it's easy to use. The build seems sturdy. But best of all are the pockets. It's so hard nowadays to find a pocket big enough to hold a wallet and glasses, or one of the larger phone such as my Samsung S8 with Otter case, and with a closing flap to prevent contents from spilling out. The flap fully opens, so you don't struggle trying to get your stuff back in with a one hand.

Great mid-weight flannel

I really like this flannel; the medium fits me (chest 39, waist 30) well at the shoulders and in the chest without being too baggy at the waist (still a bit though). Others mention short arms -- they might be short compared to a typical flannel, but I think they still fit well, maybe more like a dress shirt on me hitting just past the wrist. The material is comfortable and neither lightweight nor heavyweight. Not sure about the whole Sri Lanka cut vs. USA build idea mentioned in another review. The forearms fit well on me, though I am on the lanky side (6'2", 170).

Nice shirt but not as heavy as advertised

Nice shirt, LT is a good fit with sleeves long enough that even after washing and possible shrinkage there, they are still long enough for a tall person. That said the description says "thick, jacketlike flannel " and that is not the case with the winter 24-25 version of this shirt. I have one from a few years ago that is one of my thicker flannels, but this current version is a thinner fabric - good to wear to work indoors in an office in the winter but not a jacket-like outer layer by any means.
