So happy I bought this!
This screenhouse is bigger than I expected! We decided to purchase this one for its size and because Eureka! makes great quality tents. This is very easy to set up, took us about 5 minutes without looking at the instructions. I like how the rainfly also offers additional protection from the sun, and the fact that there are three different configurations/uses. There is so much space inside (12x9ft) and it’s over 7ft tall at its tallest point inside. It seems like it would easily fit around a standard picnic table. The table in the photo is 4x2ft and the one we use when we go camping. I like how there are two different types of doors/entrances on the long sides of the screenhouse. One front door has zippers on each side and you can roll it up to the top and tie it with 3 x toggles so you have a large entrance. The other side, the rear door, has a zipper in the middle. Once unzipped, you can tie each side to the corners of the screenhouse to create an A entrance. It doesn’t matter which you use as your actual front or back for your main entrance, use what suits your needs. The screenhouse attaches to the tent poles with 3 x clips on each side with the clip on the apex of the screenhouse attaching at the top. The rainfly attaches to the tent poles with two velcro pieces that you secure around the tent poles: one on the side and one above the joint. Same great material from Eureka! as you can expect, and it does its job keeping bugs out. We purchased this for our family camping trips, and it arrived yesterday so this review is based on my initial impressions of the product. I can’t wait to take it out with us!
Great Shelter but Needs Better Set-Up Instructions
A a little disappointed at first until we learned how to set it up correctly. Now very happy. Shelter packs into a relatively small space and provides excellent protection from sun, rain, wind, cold weather, and probably bugs when set up and guyed out correctly. Will post a full review on my Modern Tent Camping YouTube Channel.
It does the job
We have own an earlier version of this Eureka screen room. It did not come with the freestanding canopy, nor the floor. We always take it along because it is light weight, however we don't set it up unless it is needed due to the bugs at the time. It has always been effective and does what it is made to do. Eureka makes a good product and we have purchased Eureka brand tents as our family grew. This screen room is all you need for when you need it. No one spends their camping life cooped up in any screen room. The easy portability of this one is perfect for the times you need it and not a problem if you don't.
Nice idea but...
I bought this about a month ago, set it up in the yard and was very pleased with it until the wind blew. It was not an overly windy day, no high wind warnings but I looked out in the evening and the screenhouse was lying on the ground. Two of the poles had bent where they are reduced to fit into the center hub. It seems like it could be a design flaw. I called Eureka to see if I could get 2 new poles but was informed that since this was a new product replacement poles were not available. This is the good part about Eureka, they sent me a brand new unit within a week. Their customer service is excellent and woulden't hesitate to do business with them again.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and for the great compliment! I apologize for the delay in this response. I am glad that we were able to assist you and want it to be known that we have the best customers in the business!
Excellent design
This is a beautifully designed product. We bought it a couple weeks ago and brought it with us on a camping trip in the Finger Lakes region. On our first night, it absolutely poured. We purchased the side walls en route on a whim, and were so happy that we had done so! They worked beautifully to keep us dry, and very easy to install and remove as needed. Note that if you stake out the screen walls, you get more room inside the shelter, but you also raise the walls a few inches from the ground, so bugs can get in (at least if you are not using the floor, which we weren't). Still, we're really happy with this shelter, and will continue putting it to good use!
Don't buy this.
It takes an especially bad product for me to write a review, I. Setup, packaging, takedown, and rain protection of this shelter have been a bad experience. - Poles are color coded with stickers that fell off on the first use. I'll have to guess next time, or mark them on my own. - Shouldn't be set up or taken down by one person. Since the staking and body are essential to the structure, there is a high risk of bending poles if tent is taken down or put up asymmetrically. - Tent is flimsy in weather - Packaging is very cheap. There is a reason draw cords exist, but Eureka has put flimsy strands of fabric to tie in a bow instead. - Really only half of the footprint is protected from rain, particularly if there is wind. Do not expect meaningful protection unless you purchase the additional walls (+$100). Note that 3x of right size blue tarp can be hooked on the outside for cheaper rain protection. - Stakes are bad. Comes with little bendy wire stakes (don't stay in the ground well) or chunky plastic ones. - Rain fly only setup cannot be used freestanding Don't bother with this. If I can return it I will.
Great product, easy to assemble and very versatile
This is a great product and I would recommend it! I had read thought the various reviews mentioning that it was complicated to set up but I did not find it difficult and managed to put it up by myself in short time. Watch Eureka's video about how to set it up before doing it yourself and don't rush things and you will be just fine. The shelter is super versatile, which is why I like it. It can be a closed bug shelter closed on all sides, can open the side with central zipper for quick in and out, have one entire side opened up, or all sides opened up. It is serving us well next to our REI basecamp 6 tent as a space to get some shade during the day and pull down the bug net sides at the end of day to enjoy being outside while keeping the mosquitoes out. In essence, it seems and feels good quality, has all loops and guy lines already installed, is quick and easy to set up and very practical to use. it also comes in a great bag.
Held up to Adirondack storms
We just got back from our annual week in the Adirondacks, and this screen tent did exactly what we needed. It stormed for a good portion of the week, and although things close to the sides got wet (we didn't splurge for the walls yet) we were able to eat comfortably and stay dry at the center of the tent. I'm looking forward to using it as just a canopy as well during shorter trips.
Run Away
Second year of product use and every time it is a nightmare. On recent trip had same conversation “do we put this beast up or go without?”. All comments listed about the product inadequacies are correct. Still disappointed at product manufacturer and the price I paid.
Absolute junk
Poles are awkward and not labeled, difficult and awkward to set up
