Very nice, mid-range folding bike.

I have been riding for many years but this is my first folding bike. It looks great and appears to be well made and durable. The bike is quick and easy to adjust for rider comfort. Folding and unfolding is simple and fast. The internal gear hub seems ideal for a bike intended for urban and commuter riding where avoiding grease stains is important. The bike comes with seven speeds which seems right for urban use. More speeds will be better if touring is the intended use. The bike is heavy; heavy to lift into a car when folded and heavy riding. Nevertheless, I like it and expect to get lots of use from it.

Fun Bike

I have had mine about six weeks now. The saddle took a little time to feel comfortable with. Other than that everything about this bike is fun. I wanted a small folding bike that would be easy to get in for repairs if ever needed. When I picked it up from REI I just folded it and put in my compact car. I also wanted an internal geared hub since most of my riding is on flat city streets and I don’t need 21 gears that my other bike has. With the 24 inch tires it feels close to a full size bike with all the benefits of a small folding. Love that the front light runs off the front hub and have no batteries to ever replace. My main exercise is swimming, but since the pandemic have spent a lot more time on my bike.

WOW!!

This bike is nicer than I expected! It folds up easily, and is sturdy but not heavy, so that I can fold it, pick it up and put it in the back of the car. The 24" wheels offer a comfortable ride, the gear shifting and braking functions are very smooth. The adjustable handlebars enable a variety of riding positions. Now I can get around the parks, campgrounds, beaches, neighborhood with ease! Kevlar in the tires and a pump integrated into the seat post gives me peace of mind. I like that the chain guard thing covers and moves with the chain so that I don't worry about so much sand, dirt and grit gunking up the chain and/or shifting performance. The dynamo-powered lights are quite bright and remain on even when the bike is not in motion (can be turned off). Note: it's not a silent ride. I first thought maybe the brakes are too tight/rubbing, but it's the dynamo working. It just sounds like something is rubbing on the tire. It does come with a classy bell, too. The REi bike shop staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered Luggage Truss G2 from Tern to use a retro Klickfix front frame basket (not pictured). I am old, 5'8", 125lbs. I have severe osteoarthritis, and it's very painful to stand or walk for more than a few minutes. This bike enables me to meander the paths I used to walk, without bearing weight on my joints. This bike has enhanced my quality of life.

Excellent bike!

We bought these bikes so that we could take them with us during our RV travels. We have been very pleased with the quality of the bike and components. They fold up easily and store in the vehicle we tow behind the motorhome. The bikes are enjoyable to ride. I will most likely sell my (Trek) bike that I was using for my "every day" biking and just ride the Tern ... whether I'm at home or we are on the road with our motorhome.

Complete Disappointment

I had a high expectation about this bike so I bought 2 of them at East Hanover, NJ store. The bike shop promised me a set up. I picked the bikes the following day. One of them I returned on the spot because it was put together incorrectly. The other one I took for a test and noticed horrible noise produced by the chain. The bike was not set up at all. The Dinamo was not connected. I was completely disappointed with the bike and even more with REI bike shop that sold me 2 bikes that were not setup. I invested 3 visits to the store and the customer service that I received was tragic to say the least. REALLY???? Guys at REI??? Really??? The bikes are probably great; however, REI staff did not do their job.

excellent commuter

I bought this to commute in to my office. It’s an absolute tank - barely have to maintain it. I love that it can fold up and come into the office with me rather than locking outside. Also am able to take it on the train if weather is unfavorable to get home.
