This is a comfortable lawn chair with appropriate width and back cushion. However, my first use was for a picnic in a grassy park. I turned to look behind me and the screws attaching the back to the wooden arm came out. I really liked the chair for its height and lightweight design, but it's not durable.
I have a back condition and most outdoor chairs don't provide enough support. This chair's design is much more supportive, and the straps for carrying it like a backpack work well. I've used it for hours of sitting when I was volunteering at a national park trailhead. The chair was comfortable and I had no issues with my back. I definitely recommend it.
The chair is what you would expect from REI, very high quality. It was made well from sturdy material and I found the cushions very supportive and firm, which is important for my back. I use it as an extra deck chair at my cabin. I like the the idea of straps. I works well for when I take it out on the property to look at the view (mostly wetland birds) and it frees my hands up to carry binoculars. It rides well on the back and feels like a light packboard with nothing on it.
Bought this chair and the screws pulled out of the armrest both times. REI was kind and replaced the first one. 2nd one broke and they refunded me. Wish chair was more durable. Was very comfortable.
This is a comfortable chair to sit in. The hight is pretty and they’re no hot spots when sitting for longer periods of time. The main design flaw is the screws holding the arms to the main body. They’re to short. I only used the chair like five times and the screws came out of the wooden arms. Thankfully for REI’s great return policy. This is a fantastic chair but for the price the build quality should be better.
This chair is very comfortable to sit in, and much easier to set up than a truly portable chair. The backpack straps are nice, although the chair is a bit wide when going through some doorways. But, the big problem is, the fabric of this chair *stains*. It stains *bad*. If you let a child eat food in this chair, the food will hit the fabric, and the fabric will stain, and there's no way to remove the fabric to wash it and the stains are absolutely positively not coming out anyway. We still use this chair, but at this point it looks really gross and we mostly just let the kids sit in it. We're never sure when one of the stains is going to track back onto our clothes.
The arms are screwed on with thin screws, not bolted. I had two and both failed disastrously. Plus it's built so that you can't even repair it yourself. This is an unsafe and unrepairable design. REI knows this but continues to sell it
After fixing up the backyard we needed chairs that would not take up a lot of room, and could easily be moved around in the small deck. These are perfect and with the backback straps, could be picked up and taken to Little League games!
A comfortable backpack chair at a seating height good for older folks with creaky knees. It’s light weight, and extra stuff can be stowed in the folded seat area, like a small folding camp table and/or a blanket. I would be happier if it folded more compactly and had a storage pouch and a cup holder.
I bought this chair over a year ago and it has continuous screw porblems with its securing to the arm rest. Wieght 150, chair saw about 40 days of camping before problems .It is extremely dfficult to fix and fixes were not permanent (other secure points stripped). The screws strip out fo the arm rests making the chair unstable and dangerous to use ( I first noticed the problem when the chair went over backwards).. Design of the chair makes it extremely difficult to fix. The arm rest attachements should have been bolted to the arm rest. I can say that until these porblems i loved this chair, easy to sit down in and get up out of (as opposed to more popular chairs where you feel like your in a hole). And, the chair was quite comfortable. If you buy it, return it at first indication of loosening screws as issues may continue. iCome on REI, this chair has so many complaints about this issue.
