This is the best outdoor chair I’ve found to sit in and play acoustic guitar. The height and flat nature of the seat are much more comfortable than a standard saggy camp chair. The arm rest height is ideal for either strumming or playing finger style on a dreadnaught sized acoustic guitar; much more comfortable and less restrictive of movement than any Adirondack style chair or camp chair. The quality seems great and the straps of the chair feel like canvas rather than plasticky. The grommets used to secure the straps look like they could be removed with a hex driver if you needed to ever replace the straps. This chair was exactly what I was looking for!
What can I say? It's a classic design webbed folding lawn chair. Super comfortable and lightweight. But my favorite feature of this is the backpack type straps on the back making it easy to carry along without using your hands. I took a small piece of pool noodle and slit the side, and it fit right on the top of the chair making for a convenient head rest!
Bought this only 3 months ago and the screws under the arm rests fell out. Two at first just fell out (put back in), another was loose(tightened), and then two more ripped out and the chair broke. They use wood screws in blind holes to keep the frame attached to the wooden armrests. Not an ideal design. Strongly recommend using some loctite on these screws before they rip out. This can be permanently fixed if you drill out the holes and use nuts and bolts through the wood armrests. Loved the chair before it broke. But not sure to return it or fix it though.
After about only 6 uses, the screws on the arm rest just pulled out when I sat down. Very poor construction. Also it is sad that this chair, which was NOT cheap at $90 bucks, was made in China. I bought it just 16 months ago and did not use it at all in our Vermont winters, so was really upset that it failed so quickly . REI would only give me a bit of a discount and a gift card but it would still cost me $62 bucks for a new one. I have been a member for FIFTY TWO years and this has so soured me that I may just drop my membership.. as REI does not back their products they way they used to... Very very sad.. just not treated well.... looks like it may be time to find a better outfitter, like EMS !!!!
Chairs are good looking, very stable but a tad heavier than I thought, but still a light weight chair. Nice feature to have shoulder straps and not too bad on your back. The finish is good and seems it may hold up over time but don't rough house it. Comfortable seating where the seat is not way short of your knees type of feeling, seems right. No bars across your back feeling and the arm rests are good. We like the chairs and grabbed them on sale.
This chair is pretty good, but not as good as I was hoping it would be. I seems to be pretty well built, and I like the carry straps that make it easy to schlep the chair to an event or to a distant picnic or relaxation point. I don't like how soft the straps on the seat and back are designed. A little more support is needed. The old classic design was much more comfortable for me than this new one. It is almost as soft as a 'slouch chair' like the collapsible sling designs. The little hook and strap to hold the chair shut is a nice touch.
This chair is an update on an old style folding chair, and if you’ve priced them lately you will discover that the price point on this chair is in line with the old style aluminum chairs with plastic webbing. The webbing on this chair is woven polyester (or poly-something) and is very comfortable. I love the shoulder straps. I bought both the regular size and the low style, and I couldn’t be more pleased.
This char is comfortable on my back. We wanted a chair that had a back pack strap. It is easy to carry. Unrelated to the chair comfort but - we had chosen a chair that appeared to have been recent to have been put on the floor. We leaned the chair next to a rack and went to the other side, when we walked back around to get the chair, it was gone. We told a clerk our chair was gone and he said the store personnel put it away. When we got home with the chair he got for us the chair webbing is dirty. It looks like it has been lying on the floor (the seat and back of the chair.) It was disapppointing to get home (a 1 hr drive) with this very dirty chair.
The chair is curved between the seat and back. I did not find it comfortable due to the curve which puts stress on the low back. Classic lawn chairs are not curved and more comfortable as they support the back better.
Would have given this 5 stars for comfort but the hardware broke off the arm within the first 10 minutes of use. My husband is handy, so this is a minor hassle for us. It might not be for you.
