Don't buy a lightweight hybrid boot and then expect it to outperform on a durability scale. I have 1 hiking season in these, 125 hard miles on Sierra granite. They were as advertised comfortable right out of the box, I've found them waterproof as long as water doesn't come over the mid height. The toe box is ample for a "regular" size foot. I love their weight, the shank is substantial enough, and I feel nimble in them as if they were a runner....in fact I ran a half mile in them back to trailhead to lock my car. My feet didn't ache or overheat. Know what you buy, expect trade-offs. This is a stellar lightweight piece of footwear that met and exceeded all my expectations. Looks to me, despite all the 1 star durability ratings, that I've got at least another 125 miles on them. I'll have them next summer in the Winds for sure.

Great boot, but......

Great boot, but..... I'm a first responder. I walk from 3.5-4 miles a day in the mean streets of the Bronx. Pros: Most comfortable shoe ever Truly is waterproof. Great grip on concrete or any hard surface. Cons: Soles were eaten up in less than 2 1/2 months. Suprising for a Vibram. Wouldn't buy for more than the 89.00 that I paid for it. Boot looks like it's discontinued

Comfortable but poor construction

This is my second pair of the Speed Mids and this pair has not been anywhere as close to the quality as my last pair. I have had these for a very short period and they are already starting to come apart on a few places. With that being said I know that Merrell has a great warranty on their products and I’m sure they will take care of me. I feel like their quality has decreased due to the “Vegan Friendly” adhesives the company has gone to. Other than the shoe construction, these are great, very comfortable, fast delivery and next to no break in period. Price point is very reasonable for a GORE-TEX shoe also.

Shocking build quality

I bought these full price last year. I liked the feel of them, nice and comfy, but they were not waterproof, and the build quality is lost. The right shoe would always allow water through at the big toe, even just walking through short grass. The core trees membrane did not protect. Within a couple of months of light wear, no hiking, just streets and local park, the body had started coming away and started to disintegrate. Shocking, don't trust this brand!

Fantastic comfort

These Moab mid speed are comfotable straight out of the box . No break in needed. I have a wider foot and they fit really well. I’ve hiked snow and mud and hopped creeks and my feet stay dry and warm . They are extremely light weight which I really appreciate and the sole grips well and the bed is very comfortable . I got size 8 1/2 goretex version . They fit true to size . I ordered another pair in 9’s so that I can wear my fat wool socks in colder weather next snow season. I highly recommend these if you’ve tried other hikers that were too tight or too heavy or blistered your feet . Favorite shoes ever!!!!

Good shoe with a bad sole

This is my 5th pair of Merrells. Got them when my old MOABs split at the heel. These are comfortable and lighter than regular MOABs, but are not nearly as durable. The soles are coming apart all over after about 6 months. I haven't even taken them hiking or anything, just wearing them to work. I like a lot of things about these shoes, but wouldn't buy them again. All other Merrell shoes soles I have are still in better shape than these and these are my newest shoes.

Must Have MOAB SPEED

These mid height hikers are super comfortable. Originally purchased these because I liked the color (blue) and needed an everyday waterproof work shoe that could withstand the elements. These are all that and more. Extremely lightweight, fit and feel like a sneaker with superior grip and traction. Keeps your feet warm and dry. I will be purchasing this in additional colors.

Light & speedy, but lack footbed support

For the cost you wish the insole was a bit more substantial, so thin, so unsupportive. No arch or heel padding whatsoever. However after wearing a few days they are quite comfy and lightweight. They don't overheat my feet my feet like most waterproof boots. The soles are soft and flexible, comfortable on dirt and gravelly trails, but not supportive on rockier terrain. There's a lot of lateral flex and almost like high top sneakers. They dont have the stiffness in the sole of my Vasque Breeze 3 and not as supportive in the ankle however not as fatiguing on the feet or heavy as the Breeze. They are roomier. I'm torn over liking them but will see how they wear over the next few months.

For high impact activity, durability 1 year

Love the performance and comfort of these shoes, great during high level of Activities and impact on the feet, my only gripe is the soles came unglued and separated on each sided near the ball of my big toe and little toe on both shoes, 7-8 months in. Yet I would definitely buy them again.

Great lightweight hiking boot

Great lightweight boots - good for city walks and moderate trail hikes. Super comfortable yet good protection from the elements, and no break-in required. Great for travel as they weigh the same as a sneaker
