This size chart is meant to be a guide only, as Danner styles are built from various lasts that fit each foot differently. Generally, most people size down a half to a full size when buying Danner boots as compared to their shoe size from other major footwear brands.

Only one concern: the finger loop above the heel is too large and too floppy and is a safety hazard if exposed, such as wearing shorts. I have been tripped twice now while changing foot positions moving a foot in a crossover move with foot going behind opposite ankle shoelace hook caught in heel loop tripping me. Wasn’t sure what happened the first time but when it happened again with opposite side I figured out what caused it. I cut off both loops after the second time. Both instances happened on level ground, thank God. If I’d been hiking and traversing up or down a hill or elevation change it could’ve been much worse.
Only complaint is that the bottom side hook went through the lace 3 times. Amazing boots other than that.
I got these boots primarily for my job. I'm a home inspector so I do a lot of walking around, bend down, kneeling, and crawling under homes. I was little skeptical that the material on the toe would hold up but it's been about 4 months of crawlspaces and they still look new. These boots are very comfortable, light weight, and are holding up so far. I haven't taken them on a hike yet, but know they will be perfect for that. My only slight complaint is that the insoles they came with are very thin. I had to change them out with something thicker. But other than that they great boots for a great price. Way better than I was hoping for. I think I may be a Danner wearer for life now.
Ordered a wide, but it's still too narrow. for comparison, I wear the vicious 4. 5" work boot in a regular width.
The fit was a little off. I have 2 other pair of Danner boots that were perfect out of the box. I ordered the same size I always do and the width felt uncomfortable. I returned and ordered the wide width. Better, but not perfect. I did keep them and after wearing them a few times, they seem to have broken in. For me, I would buy a 1/2 size up to move your foot to the wider spot in the boot and the wide width. The weight was good. I like the design. The soles were comfortable. I've worn them all day before and on a 5 mile walk. If the sizing fit me better, I would have given them 5 stars.
The only problem is the eyelet came apart and I guess you discontinued this style sad I buy 6 pairs of these a year danners been my go too
I love the styling, ankle support, and waterproof features of these boots. The problem I have is the layering of materials creates a bump inside and it aligns perfectly with my little toe, aggravating it. I got a bad blister, let it mostly heal, and tried again, but it’s a no go. The right side is fine. I’ve never had this concern with other shoes/boots so I know my feet are not unusual. I just left an email with Danner for suggestions. Unfortunately, I don’t feel these are not gonna work out for me which really is to bad as I really like everything else about them.
Within just a few minutes an eyelet fell off, very disappointed.
Really good quality boot. I prefer earth tone colors for shoes and boots and these are really nice. They aren’t quite as comfortable as the Mountain 600’s that I have but feel a little more robust- I would describe the Mountain 600 as more of a park trail boot (they wear like an athletic shoe); but while these are called Vital Trail they are more along the line of an unimproved trail / cross country boot. They do seem to vent well and keep my feet cooler- but it hasn’t been truly hot since they arrived so time will tell. My only complaint is the flat shoelaces- I replaced them right away with round ones- but the loops are too small for my heavy Kevlar laces to fit through and the quick laces are too narrow for the heavier laces so I had to use thinner laces.
Danner makes a great boot. The quality is good and it walks great! They are not as comfortable with foot temperature as past Goretex lined Danners I have worn. So why the BUT? They have a wear spot at the point of the knuckle on the little toe. The leather outer parts come together and makes a ridge on the inside that is a continual irritant. I thought it would break in with walking, but I have 100 miles on them now and they are no better. I have to put a corn pad on my foot at this spot to use the boots.
