Good concept, but could use some tweaking

I bought these boots for my dog because we're generally big fans of Ruffwear gear, and I was interested in the gaiter. We had Muttluks Snow Mushers for our previous dog, and while they were easy to get on, snow collected in the cuff and melted down into the boots. These take longer to get on than average dog boots, because you have to velcro them then zip up the gaiter. The velcro band is VERY stiff- this is definitely something that could be improved. I'd like to see an elastic velcro band instead to make it more comfortable. We ended up buying the socks because I was concerned that the stiffness would cause rubbing. Our dog has short fur and fairly skinny ankles compared to her paws. Unfortunately, in snow deeper than a couple inches, the gaiters completely fill up with snow and I have to unzip them to dig out all the snow periodically. I would improve this design by making the gaiters higher, and adding a velcro cinch or two to customize the fit. I still think they're good boots, and if your dog has thicker fur or ankles that are relatively close in size to their paws, they will probably be perfect. Here's hoping that Ruffwear improves the design for next year!

Good to go

Pup barely noticed they were on. Pads and paws were intact after 15 miles of snowshoeing!

Excellent protection in all weather for our dog!

Sturdy and protective in all seasons. We originally got the regular Ruffwear shoes but found these to be even better as they give an extra layer of security with the zipper in case of sudden zoomies. Last winter we had one shoe missing for over a month because of such an event, so when we got these, we realized they're even better! Our dog is very chill and it didn't take long for him to get used to them, but I'd advise getting them on securely and then going for a walk. They protect against hot pavement, sharp pieces of ice, weeds, burrs, rocks, mud, etc. We really value these shoes whenever we feel we need to protect our little guy's paws.

dose not work in snow

used in 4" snow. the snow guard filled up and became an ice pack that could have caused severe injuries. I am glad I tested them on a short walk and not a 5 mile bike ride.

Stayed on but ice form around the top of boot.

These boots stayed on my dog for 2.5 hr hike in the snow. She's a lab/hound mix dog. The downside is that ice did form around the top of the boots, which I assume must be uncomfortable.

Great in snow!

Bought to protect our Golden Retriever's paws in cold conditions, and to prevent balls of snow and ice from forming between his toes and in his feathering. First, these come as a pair, which some people complain about. This was clearly advertised AND works great for us because our dog's front and back paws are two different sizes! They take longer than I'd hoped to get on snugly, but it gets easier with practice. They're sturdy and offer good traction, but are best in snow because the bootie material is clunky on slick, paved surfaces. We haven't had the issue of snow collecting and creating an ice ball at the top of the gaiter, perhaps because our pup has more leg fur than others.

Perfect booties!

LOVE these booties! We have a senior Airedale (now 14.5 y/o) who dislocated her hip in 2022. We use these when we go snowshoeing with her to prevent her from slipping and re-dislocating her hip! They stay on exceptionally well. Just be sure the foot/paw is all the way into the boot before tightening and zipping up. She loves wearing them too, because it means she is going on an adventure ;-))

Used hard, they do the job and they stay on.

Been great for my Wheaten Terrier. Gotta strap them tight, but they stay on great in deep snow as well as packed at high speed. Measure front and back a few times to get an accurate measurement. Their sizes are pretty accurate.

Very Disappointed

These are a disappointment. Bought for 3 dogs, so expensive. Zipper separate on one first walk. The elastic gaiter fills with snow and the dogs are stopping and chewing on them. The velcro stop is very stiff, hard to tighten, and once tight is like an iron ring. I would return them if I could, but I used them several time. I advise to find another brand.

Fill with snow

I like Ruffwear products, but this one misses the mark. The top cuff gets jammed with snow so there is always an ice cube against the dog's leg. Ii will probably cut off the cuff, as the boots have a great tread on them.
