i wear these daily but i am pretty hard on shoes. my previous identical pair lasted me 11 months, before blowing out the side seam and leaking. This is better than the keens, timberlands, and lower priced merrells that last me about 6 months before they fall to pieces. The round shoe laces that come w/ them do not stay tied. They are waterproof for awhile, but subsequently do not breathe very well. Still, the most durable and comfortable every day boot i have found for the price.
I have had these boots for just on three months and wear orthotics in them. I found them very comfortable on the fifteen or so day hikes I did over that period on mountain paths. However, I have just returned from a 5-day hiking trail which included a lot of boulder clambering. The sole grip on the dry boulders was superb but by the third day the toe piece stitching was wearing through and had started to come adrift. Clearly the stitched edge of the rather narrow toe cap was catching on the boulders. For my next pair of boots I will look for a more substantial toe cap.
I bought this boot two weeks ago and am glad I chose it
We aim to please! Thank you!
I bought this boot with hopes it would be useful for longer day hikes on Colorado mountain trails. The construction of the uppers met my expectation for a decent leather hiker. Once I put them on my feet, however, I knew this wasn't the boot for me. The thickness and padding of the sole was lacking. It felt like there wasn't foot-shaped padding and I was walking on a very flat board. The upper portion of the boot didn't match the bottom. I wore the boots around the house and to work (at an indoor job) for a day. By the end of the day, everything was comfortable except the soles. The flat-footed feeling never went away. As much as I wanted to like these boots, I ended up returning them. I went with the Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid boot and was much happier with the sole. I like the traditional look of the leather Forestbound boot, but couldn't keep them with such unpadded and unshaped soles.
Lightweight and durable through a 28-mile loop in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, but walking through moderate rain in urban setting rendered a wet toe box. It's shame the Merrell seems to have a high hit rate of waterproofing defects; such a waste of materials and an otherwise impressive boot.
I put these boots through their paces a week ago. We went on a week long camping trip with plenty of hiking and a bonkers amount of rain. The boots were perfect in the wet, muddy conditions. I was up and down steep terrain each day and I never once felt unstable and my feet stayed perfectly dry. I am considering a second pair just to have.
This is my 2nd pair..I actually use them for work and they have been the lightest and most comfortable boots I’ve found..My feet are always dry..I love these boots and recommend them to anyone looking for comfort and dry feet.
These boots are very comfortable. They’re surprisingly insulated and quite durable. I wore them during a downpour while trying to clean up the campsite and get a tarp strung up. My feet were dry the whole time, despite 4 inches of rain falling in about 30 minutes. Highly recommend!
I sure the boot itself was fine although for me it was a bit too tight. The real reason I didn't want to hang onto it was the low cut. I couldn't tell from the picture that it was lower than the last pair I had.
I purchased these boots in May for hunting this fall. I found them very comfortable even with my custom orthotics. Sadly an eye broke and I will not be purchasing them again because of this.
