Good Enough For Two Pairs
After injuring my ankle in an off road motorcycle accident my daily wear shoes are boots. Being retired I don't need to wear dress shoes. I bought these boots for the light weight and support. They have been comfortable from day one. I saw they were being discontinued so I just recieved a secound pair to hold in reserve for when the first pair wears out.

Consider others
I bought one pair, the left boot water proofing didn't work on the first hike. REI exchanged them and now 1.5 years later after having used them a handful of times the waterproofing in the right boot of the new pair has failed. Their comfortable but I wouldn't buy them again if waterproof is a need.

Merrell boots fit great

I have relatively narrow feet so I have to order 5-6 pairs of boots to find a good fit. I also use custom orthotics to prevent plantar fasciitis. Merrells fit the bill regarding fit. I have taken walks up to 3 hours in them with no blisters and good comfort. I am hoping they will be just as reliable for longer, more strenuous hikes.

Great all around trekkers for adults and teenagers

Love these Merrel Speed solos! My son does as well. Very small arch in them. Decent sole. Good heel support. Very flexible. Responsive sole trekking in mud, rocks, roots. Worn them on local "green tunnel" trails as well as Northern Michigan, pictured rocks U.P. many Smokey Mountain trails, Cayahoga ledges and hills in Ohio.

Next pair of regular hiking shoes.

I have a regular pair of Merrill boots for everyday use. They are not waterproof and the Seattle sres gets lots of rain. I will use my new boots for wet conditions and use my present ones for dry walks. It’s a good way to break them in.

Happy so far

My partner likes the way they fit at this time, and finds them comfortable enough on the trail for hiking and some occasional jogging. Hoping they’ll hold together for a long life - TBD

Comfortable hikers

These are true to size and are very comfortable. I've worn them a few times already on hikes over dirt and snow and my feet stayed dry and warm. I'm pleased with the quality and fit.
