Great for cold hands
I have severe cold intolerance in my hands; these mittens made it possible to once again enjoy outdoor winter activities, including my favorite x-c skiing. This winter I simply put on these electric mittens and was on my way in comfort. No fuss, no anxiety, just warm hands. Usually a few minutes on high, then some time on medium or low, and then once I was totally warmed up I was often able to turn them off for long stretches. They worked perfectly. They heat up in seconds. The three heat settings were very useful. They never got turned on accidently; occasionally a bump would change the setting tho that was easy to notice. The fact that the thumb is heated was critical for me. I think the advertised duration of heat available per charge was pretty accurate. They do take a long time (overnight) to recharge. They are bulky, but less so than my previous set up. To get the tight pole strap fit necessary for releasing my grip on the backswing, the removable Swix Just-Click XL straps and handles worked very well. I left them on the mitts (photo). The Swix TCS XL straps do not fit due to a different design. My downhill pole straps worked fine without modification. For comparison, in previous winters I was using heavy boiled wool mittens inside over-mitts along with chemical handwarmers for temperatures as warm as the mid 20's F. Temps in the teens required a second handwarmer attached with a wrap to my wrists at the base of my thumb. I would prewarm my mittens and liners, prewarm my vehicle if driving to the trailhead, and still be reluctant to stop and chat in the parking lot or spend any time with my mittens off adjusting equipment. Once my hands or thumbs got cold it was very difficult to get them warm again, even with intense skating or classic stride. Highly recommended.
Worth the investment!
These are the absolute best mitts that I’ve ever had! Outdoor research makes the best gloves hands down!(see what I did there). Skiing out west on wet powder days was no problem, the Gore-Tex material didn’t let any moisture come through and the heating element it’s self kept my hands at the perfect temperature all day long! I’ve actually never drained the batteries all in one day! Amazing battery life even in sub zero temperatures! I do admit that price tag can be kinda scary but it’s worth every penny in my opinion!
High quality, high tech, looks durable!
Just got these in the mail today, and looking forward to using them ice climbing in the Adirondacks. Surprised but respectful of the Uber-packaging - charger and battery packs in small boxes, both in a mesh bag with the mittens, all in a box! Mittens are burly and should withstand a lot of use. The fit is more typical of my problem with OR XLs, very snug for my hands. Usually a roomier fit allows better flexibility and circulation to keep my hands warm, especially in a fingered glove. I'm hoping the heated system in these mittens will make up for the snug fit. Going out this weekend in single- and negative digits (F), so we'll see!
No more tossing out dozens of hand warmers every season
We have had a mild Montana winter, but have loved these gloves so far. I spent some time stuck on the Lone Tree lift at Big Sky and as we started to get cold, I turned up my mitts to high, waiting in the tram line, the mitts went to the high setting. I always have cold hands, so I love having the options of different heat settings. Keep an eye of the lighted settings on the cuffs as it is easy to change the settings unintentionally (turn them on/off or change the heating level), otherwise I would have given these 5 stars. I normally wear a small or medium women's glove and the XS fits me with enough room for some wool liner gloves.
Warm hands all day long!
These mittens are amazing! After 5 years of backcountry skiing, I have had frostnip in my fingertips so many times that my fingers go from fine to extreme pain in cold very quickly! Add to this that I regularly resort ski in 5-15 degrees in Colorado and I've been through every major mitten and liner brand out there. This is the solution! I can run them at high for the first few runs, then ramp down to medium or low once things warm up, and then switch back to high at the end of the day. Charge them at night, and you're good to go again in the morning. Sure, they're expensive but it sure beats buying one more pair of mittens that don't keep my hands warm! I am a woman with typical-size hands and the x-small is great for the length of my fingers. Over time, the loft of the lining has compressed so there is more volume inside now than I would like, but they are still warm because of the heaters.
Warm fingers! :-)
Used for colder weather skiing (downhill), Old fingers are nice and warm. Yahoo. These were warranty replacements. Warranty worked very very well. Settings buttons on these are superior to old version. extremely happy. Well worth the price! Btw, imho, if borderline for sizes (top of recommended size) you might consider getting the larger size. Once on they are fine; it's the getting them on that is snug. If the palm of your hand is more flexible (for pulling cuff over to get on) it may not be an issue. Or check with customer service about cuff difference in glove/mitt size if they aren't available in your area to try on.
Great mittens
I had last year's mitts. I love them. They fit, a rare find for XS, are flexible and comfortable. They warm up nicely and the temp is easy to regulate. I used them in moderately cold weather - nothing extreme. All that said, there was some kind of electric connection or battery problem. It didn't stop me from using the mittens but sometimes required a little manipulation. I was able to exchange them on warranty. The staff could not have been more supportive and I have a new pair for this winter. I hope that the new model has addressed any problems with battery / heating connections. I think these mittens are great. Something to consider if your hands are always cold.
FINALLY! My hands are truly warm!
I am a ski coach and instructor in Northern MN, often training in below zero temps. I have had serious problems with cold hands/feet for years, going through 2 or 3 CASES of chemical handwarmers each season. I have spent many many hundreds of dollars on high quality, highly rated, supposedly warm mitts, but still suffer. Even with handwarmers. THESE MITTS ARE AWESOME! I wear them skiing, boarding, standing at meets, even in my car! I bought an extra battery pack for long subzero days. The heating element in the thumb is a huge help. They are totally worth the cost, and I wish I'd bought them sooner!
Game Changer!!
My cold hands were always the limiting factor in spending prolonged periods in the cold, especially for photography or snow-shoeing where you don't generate a lot of heat. Without the heaters on these gloves are the warmest I've ever owned - and turning the heat on allows my hands to warm up after being out to use camera, and stand those -20c or greater windy days. Have used in -30c and was the only person without cold hands around! Probably the best purchase of my adulthood. *They do run 'big' but, if you are wearing any sort of liner it makes up that room. I have very small hands and ordered the Small (there was no XS), and at first thought too big, but they are perfect with liners.

Way Too Big!
I was so excited to finally receive these in the mail but then such disappointment when I realized they are huge! I am a smaller woman so I ordered the XS but I had at least 3 inches of extra length and several inches in the width. I never even charged the battery since I knew right away they wouldn't work for me. I sure wish you would make these in smaller sizes!
