Great gloves til they are not
These gloves were great and a real lifesaver for someone with cold hands, however after 1 year the left glove is not working. I'm in the process of getting a hold of OR to see what they do and how they will help me. I will let you know when I know.
Too Big, Low Insulation, Great Heating
Too Big, The size Medium fits like a large. Reviews showed that the thumb was tight, so I ordered “up”. While the thumb was tight the first hour, the insulation “Flattened” down. There is little insulation. It feels like just thin fleece lining, thin foam, and then the leather. The leather is supple and nice. The heating covers the back of the hand AND the thumb. The battery at high, is over 3 hours, which is great. I would love find a high insulation electric mitten, but will enjoy these until I find a better quality mitten. The heating is great !!!!!
Too big!
The mitts are well-made, but the sizing is off. I wear a unisex small and they are much larger than any other small mitts I own, including those from OR purchased earlier this season. They are bulky, so I don't have much dexterity when wearing them. Contrary to other reviews, I don't find anything weird about the thumb.
For working outdoors
The perfect gloves for any work that’s needed outside and Sporting events ! Super warm even without the heat function being on
Vulcan mittens
Nice mitten HOWEVER..... there are two slots for your fingers....index + middle finger are separated from ring + pinky (kind of like the Vulcan sign). The is within the larger part of the mitten..... Never had mittens designed like this am not sure if I would like it, so these will be returned. 🙄
Save your money - batteries fail and very bad fit
As many have said, these gloves weren't made for human hands. The thumb is in an odd position, hands hurt after a couple hours of use. Hopefully the damage isn't long-term. But didn't even review about that. 18 months, the battery is dead. And OR only offers a 1-year warranty on the battery, you know, the one part of the glove that is least subject to wear and tear. But I guess that's why they have to limit the liability, because they fail, and it's their fault. But at least you can buy replacement batteries! Oh wait, it's early season, and they're already out of stock. Tells you everything you need to know about these gloves.
Warm mittens, a little clunky fit
My hands stayed warm all day on the lowest (green) setting, didn’t charge that night and still had plenty of battery power left for the next day. Fit with Large size is a little snug at the wrist with plenty of finger room. Too tight to wear glove liners underneath but no need since they are very warm. Bulky battery pack on the inside of the wrist crowds the ski jacket wrist cuff. Not sure the designers tried this on with a ski jacket. But the goal of warm hands is definitely achieved.
Used for skiing
Have been used these mittens two times now. Have only used gloves for skiing up to now, but my fingers were getting cold now that I am skiing in northern Idaho in colder weather. Easy on and off, with good comfort. I wear a large, but my fingers are slim for their length. I could see were someone with thicker digits would find the thumb a little tight, but it fits me well. Overall fairly comfortable, just getting used to not having any fingers. The built in leash makes taking them off on the lift worry free. I Have only had to use the low and medium setting so far, but it hasn't been supper cold. Batteries are simple to put in and out and so far I don't really notice the extra weight.
Wow, by far THE warmest mitts-even without the heaters on!
I had the previous design, Lucent Mittens, and these are a replacement for those. The Prevail design is MUCH better and MUCH warmer! I rarely even use the heaters bc the mitts are so incredibly warm by themselves, and I have Raynaud's so this is incredible! I haven't needed to use the heaters yet, but I think the coldest temp I've skied in this year was 15 F. My only gripe is the thumb. It seems like there's a bit too much liner material in the thumbs, and the angle is odd, and so they are sometimes difficult to get on. Even with that flaw, they are easily the best mittens I've ever owned.
Great products.
These mitts are great for hiking during cold temperatures. The battery connectors have been improved from previous generation, in that they are now angled and cause less stress on the wires (connectors in previous generation was creating short circuits and random failures).
