Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

finally, a coat that fits over my bum!
First off, I am sooo happy REI Co-Op is expanding their products into outerwear. I'm short (<5'2) with wide hips (54") so finding a winter coat that fit my hips without being huge on top has always been a problem. This coat has a great shape that fits comfortably around my bum/hips. I can bend over and sit easily. The two-way zipper works well (great for venting if you get too hot walking etc) and the pockets are comfortably placed on the hips. I have noticed a couple small feathers leaking, but not bad. My only wish is that the hood had pull cords to cinch it tighter around my head when it's windy. Overall, a great coat!
This coat is absolute garbage. It sheds like crazy
I had seen one review that mentioned the shedding but thought it was a random occurrence. It is NOT. I have feathers flying around me when I wear it, when I take it off, when I'm no longer wearing it. They poke my elbow crack when I'm driving. The feathers are all over the armrest in my car and my seat. When I get to work I need to brush myself off. I've never seen anything like this. I thought for sure being an REI product it would be better. I'm going to retire it to my "outdoor winter chore" coat and hope for the best. The amount of shedding is ridiculous.
Quality, warm coat
Last year I had a down coat that I had purchased from a different retailer, and it was always shedding little feathers. Drove me nuts! I finally had to replace it when the zipper melted in the dryer. I love North Face, but as a size 2x, my options are limited. I tried this coat and I love it! It's warm, I don't leave little feathers everywhere, it's a good price, and it fits well. There are 2 huge inside pockets, and the outside pockets are large and can be zipped shut. I spilled something on it so washed it last night (with 2 rinse cycles per the instructions) and dried it in the clothes dryer. Easy peasy, washed beautifully! A winner all the way around. It's not fancy, but it does what it is supposed to.
I *really* wanted this to fit!
I was lucky enough to encounter this parka in the wild at a local REI store, in a 3X, before ordering online. (Hurray for Plus sizes in the store!) I am 5'6" and about 265 - I generally wear a 3X and a 22 in pants. This jacket is astonishingly light, and the fabric feels soft & slick, but not delicate. I've found REI hoods to fit very well, as tho they were product tested on actual humans, and this hood is the same. There are large interior pockets on both sides, and the exterior pockets are generous and would have no trouble holding gloves & keys & phone. The length fell to the tops of my thighs. The upper portion of this jacket fit perfectly - sleeves were the right length, and there was plenty of room for arm movement. Sadly, the jacket was too small through the hip - specifically for apex area of my hip that is the largest. Yup - the booty. I could wear it, but it was snug, and definitely didn't allow for any layering at all. So - if you can - check it out in the store, or consider sizing up, if you want to layer.
Looove love love this coat
I got this coat after comparing it to the shorter version. I'm glad I did because the length is superb. I'm a size 16/18 and got a 2x. I'm 5'6 and carry a good chunk of my size in my chest. This coat hits about to my fingertips, and has plenty of room in the shoulders in chest. Fully zipped I can drive, bend, reach, etc and I never feel like I'm going to rip it. I feel like the cut is curvy enough to wear I don't just feel like a lump of down in the distance I love how warm it is, I love the wind protection, the giant pockets....there's literally nothing I don't love about this coat. I also really love the burnt orange color, I feel it fits my aesthetic perfectly. I live in Utah so take this part with a grain of salt but I feel like it's just fine to wear with my dressier clothes but also works well with the casual winter wear. A++ REI! Thanks for the inclusive sizing and giving us big girls something that works!!!
lousy plastic zipper
I realize a plastic zipper is needed to keep packing weight down, but this one was a pain to put on - kept catching on edges - and when I wanted to take coat off, refused to disengage. Stepped out of coat and sent it back. Coat itself was lovely and light and warm, therefore, 2 stars. Very disappointed in REI
Feels like a Cloud
This lightweight jacket is really cozy and warm - I don't want to take it off! It's cut nicely, somewhat fitted through the torso even in the plus size. I really like the length - it's just a little longer than a jacket - ensuring no cold spots without being too long. The pockets are big enough to stow mittens and hat - essential in my Minnesota winter. The integrated hood fits just great. I also like the light elastic at the wrists. The coat runs a little small, which makes it harder to zip and harder to add layers underneath. If you want to wear it over layers, try ordering a size up.
Real Plus Size Parka
This is a women's parka that actually fits. The sleeves are a good size and I only feel a slight tug at the end of my range of motion in the arms. I am tall with a long torso and the parka still covers my backside. Light weight and warm, but I never got too hot. Nice big pockets for stuff or to pull the parka into the pocket and pack.
Wanted to love but sheds on my clothes
After searching for over a year for a warm jacket that didn't make me look like a marshmellow, I found this jacket and loved the fit and look. Very functional for a stay at home mom in a moderate NC climate. The only problem I've been having is that it sheds all over my clothes. Its lots of small feather pieces that almost don't want to come off you even with a lint roller. Sadly, I can't recommend because of the feather issue.
Delightful Parka
This parka is a dream come true. It is very lightweight, folds up easily, scrunches into a backpack or day bag, and still is very warm and cozy. One thing I love about the down is that it is warm and adjusts to how much warmth you need - it is somewhat breathable. Since it was warm in Denver, I took it to the top of Mount Evans to test in cold weather. It was overcast and drizzling and right around freezing. The jacket was comfortable and easy to wear and kept me warm without being too hot or stifling. Love the interior pockets too!
