Nice design and fit
I thought I’d try this style of hammock because I get frustrated with the my other Eno hammock that tends to fold in over my head and whole body (but I still like that one too under certain conditions). Anyway I like this new one since it does not wrap around my body and is very comfortable. The materials and build quality are very nice. One complaint is there is no hanging pocket available for a drink which my other Eno has (the stuff sack is handy for that). Maybe they could incorporate something like that in a future version
Cool & comfortable hammock!
Having owned an ENO DoubleNest for years, when I saw the Skyloft hammock I was pretty intrigued to test one out. Picked one up at the store this weekend and it is a really neat and super comfortable hammock - a very different experience compared to the Doublenest. I think i'll use it for mainly car camping and just hanging out. Quality and construction looks solid and the recline feature is quite innovative. Did not have the same issue with the stuff sack as the other reviewer....
Easier on Shoulders
I love to hammock in parks to read and sometimes camp overnight. The Skyloft is a very different experience from a typical hammock, with some advantages and disadvantages. Advantages: -- Your shoulders will breathe a sigh of relief. There is still some shoulder squeeze, but not much. -- Your back will also breathe a sigh of relief. The curvature of your body is much straighter than in traditional hammocks without having to nuance a corner-to-corner laying position. -- The fabric is thicker and sturdier than normal hammocks -- The setup and teardown is maybe a bit harder than normal hammocks, but not so bad as you'd expect. Disadvantages: -- I wish the storage pockets were hanging pockets. -- The hammock is VERY flippable in the wind if you get out of it. Your blanket and book will be on the ground in a heartbeat. -- The hammock is very sensitive to how you are laying. You basically have one comfortable position - laying dead center. It is an extremely comfortable position - but you only have one. It also is not easy to sit in or get in. Overall, I really like this hammock for what it is. I use it when I want a flat lay without the frustrating parts of a traditional hammock. But sometimes I just enjoy being able to try 100 different laying/sitting positions in my traditional hammock too. So I now mix it up between this and my old hammock, and I'm glad I have two options that are both good but very different.
Superb! The most comfortable hammock for sleeping
This hammock sleeps better than my bed. You can lie completely flat with no shoulder compression, or adjust it such that your head is elevated. The quality of materials and workmanship is superb.
Comfy, but not sure for winter camping
Pretty solid and comfy hammock. Sets up relatively easily but needs a pretty dialed in suspension system with good adjustability to get the right hang. A bit more finicky to get it perfect compared to a traditional gathered end hammock. Another problem is, an underquilt for a traditional gathered end hammock won't fit this one. Even if you get a flat square underquilt it'll be hard to stop drafts from coming in between the hammock and the quilt because of the way it hangs. Overall decent tent but probably won't make it into my year round kit.
Reserving judgement
So I am an avid hammock camper, and normally I stay away from brands like ENO and Kammok, as they aren’t very good compared to cottage vendors like Dutchware, Warbonnet Outdoors, Dream Hammocks etc. I have a Warbonnet Ridgerunner bridge hammock that is my go to, and a thorough love for bridges. I tried the REI brand bridge and returned it because of shoulder squeeze that was only alleviated by a pad, but no pad sleeve so the pad was wiggling around all night. I preordered and bought the ENO SkyLoft primarily for lounging and not overnights. As it’s still no where near the Ridgerunner. I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet, my three star rating (which I will update) is based on my initial unboxing. The stuff sack it comes in/with is falling apart. I haven’t fully cinched it or applied pressure to it, and yet it’s unraveling. Not a good look. I can only hope the hammock itself is better put together, as it would be a lawsuit filled disaster to have it fall apart in use. I will update this review after I have had a chance to use the rig, hopefully it’s just the compression sack that’s rubbish. We will see.
