Can not live without it
I received my CfX40 in October 2018 to replace another well known brand that I did not care for as much. Since October I have never removed it from my vehicle. I use it for all kinds of things, like lunch for work, cold drinks for the kids, Gatorade after practices, and camping with a family of 4. I never thought I would would need one until I got one now I can't go without it. The CFX is a very well built fridge and it is a perfect fit in my jeep and Toyota 4runner. The blue tooth option because the motor is so quiet I never think it is on. My hat is off to dometic for making the (IMO) best 12v fridge on the market.
Dometic CFX40W
This product is perfect. It fits in my FJ Cruiser with handles attached. Performance on 110V First test: Chilled from 70 to 34 degrees in less than 30 minutes. 2nd test: 70 to -4f in about 40 minutes and froze a YETI ice solid in a few hours. Compressor is almost silent. wifi to iPhone will be ideal to monitor temp and make any adjustments. First true test will be to the Alvord Desert in August. Spendy, yes. but its quality. I ordered the insulated cover for protection.
Excellent product
I love this fridge! Low amp draw if of the Yeti Lithium battery! Once it’s cool, I ran it for six days off of the battery recharging it while I drove! Just enough room in the fridge for all my needs! Well built!
Rather a neat little solution for a Sprinter 4x4
Works well, would recommend the insulation cover (but this addition should come with the unit - bit pricey add-on) but overall does the job well.
Wonderful for road living and weekend getaways
This has been the most economical resource for traveling with added comfort and food savings. This saves you money down the line because it preserves food longer so you won’t need to throw out food that still could have been good. So basically a lot less wasteful of a lifestyle. I never really considered how awesome it would be, but this was a huge up game. The fresher the food the greater the adventure!!!
Simplicity
I love the simplicity of my CFX40, plug and play. I really like that it has an app to monitor the cooling and how much watts it's using. the usb charging, little things like that makes this really excellent. I had a yeti before, it's half the weight and cools way longer. I have it directly plugged in to my dual battery. I've had it on for a week non stop. no issues. (Hi Brian)
Perfect size!
I thought that maybe I would need a bigger fridge... but after using this one it’s literally the perfect size. It’s usually only myself or my GF on a trip so it can sustain us for around a week if needed! The other big bonus is the lid opening the long way. It’s the best way to access the fridge in my current setup.
Simple to use, perfect for my needs.
The app proved really simple to use although I would have preferred it to be Bluetooth and not operating off its own WiFi network. But that’s minor. I chose the 40 over the 50 because the 50 is a very tight fit on to the back seat of my dual cab Ute. Anyway, really happy with my CFX 40!
BEST. COOLER. EVER.
We often say that our Dometic CFX is our favorite part of our campervan. Sure, the interior woodwork is beautiful, and the storage details are top-notch, but the best part of the entire build is this appliance. The CFX isnt only super efficient (we run it off a 12v battery that is charged by the alternator every couple of days) its so quiet! Our build is designed in a way that we sleep with our heads one foot above where the cooler is stored. Our past camper fridges/coolers have been so noisy, that a configuration liek this would make for a nightmare sleeping arrangement. But the CFX stays silent while keeping our food icy cold for days on end. Speaking of which - we can easily store up to 5 days' worth of food and beverages in this thing! We also travel with medication that needs to be refrigerated at all times, so the CFX isn't only a well-loved piece of equipment, its quite literally a life saver! I recommend the Dometic CFX to everyone who asks about what they should purchase when building out their rig - you wont be disappointed!
Game changer!!
I've been living out of my truck for a little over a year and a half, for the first year I was using ice and a regular cooler which limited me to 3-4 days at a time in between refilling ice and my food was constantly going swimming in the melted water. I've had my dometic for about 6 months now using it everyday and it has been incredible. I was worried my little 100 watt solar panel on top of my truck wouldn't be enough to power it along side my various other electronics but the dometic uses such a small amount of power I haven't noticed any issues at all. Just make sure you're plugging into a DC source like a 12v instead of an AC source that needs an inverter because inverters are constantly drawing power so if you're worried about power consumption that can be an issue. Overall for nomadic living this has been a complete life changer, the price tag may look scary but for how often I was buying ice and food was being wasted because it got water logged with the melted ice this thing has nearly paid itself off. 10/10 would purchase again
