Great cooler from Dometic!
I spent several months trying to decide which hard-sided cooler to buy. To be honest, all the top brands seemed to be very good. What set the Dometic cooler on a higher pedestal was 1) the multi-opening lid and 2) the ability to quickly convert the cooler into a water dispenser either by using the included spigot or buying the rechargeable water faucet. This cooler is able to carry a standard-sized plastic water bottle with approximately 3-4 inches of room to spare on top. The handles are magnetic to keep them together and out of the way. It is a little top heavy and can be tipped if turning a sharp corner too fast when siting by itself in a flat cargo area. However, if it is sitting in the foot-well of the vehicle, I had no tipping issues. I froze 12 water bottles, put in a little bit of ice along with a container of sliced ham, and the cooler kept the contents cold for 4 days in 90 degree weather. While I own a 12 volt freezer/cooler from Dometic, this is a very nice addition for those times when you don't have a power source.
Flawed design
I was excited to purchase this cooler so I could serve cold water at campsites. But there’s a major design flaw. The spout is threaded through a simple drilled hole through the insulation. Water seeps through into the foam insulation. And the insulation could in theory get moldy. If you unscrew the spout you can easily see the exposed insulation. I am not comfortable with my water leaking into it and leaking back into the main chamber. I know there is a rubber gasket that is supposed to seal the spout tight. But water still get into and out of the insulation despite tightening the spout very tightly.
