Watch Out for the Pointed Edge of the Knife...

This multitool seems to be of good quality. However, the pointed edge of the knife, which is very sharp, can still snag or scratch any object (particularly a thumb or finger) even when the knife is completely enclosed in the handle of the pliers. The dull edge runs flush with the contour of the handle. For safety reasons the knife should fold deeper into the handle so that nothing comes into contact with the pointed edge. I decided not to return the tool. I wrapped the tip of the knife in a tiny piece of tissue paper to make it safe to carry on my keychain, but I would never give this tool as a gift to anyone.

Not a useful tool

I love REI and was hoping this tool would be high quality. The packaging is very nice and was encouraging. Unfortunately, the tool itself is not very useful. The knife is too small to function. The pliers don't open/close with any fluidity. And the folding function is loose, so the knife doesn't hold it's shape on the key ring. I bought these for stocking stuffers but couldn't bring myself to actually giving them away. I ended up buying a much higher quality, only slightly more expensive, Gerber keychain multi-tool and it was a big hit.
