A well made tool for minimalists

This is a well-crafted, durable tool for those that want the essential tools that are used most and don't want the extra bulk and weight that comes with other multi-tools. I've used a few different, well-known brands of multi-tools and have had complaints with the quality or functionality. This one will stand up to the abuse. The knife is extremely sharp and strong, not to mention, accessible -as you don't have to butterfly the tool open to get to it. The bit driver is really a great feature and is something I use more than I thought I would. The grip is comfortable for a medium or small hand and it's compact stature allows it to be comfortably carried in a pocket or pack.

Nice looking but.....

Nice looking tool, and had high hopes for an "all around tool", but..... First and foremost, one of the plier jaws snapped off while trying to twist off a piece of plastic from a package. Really! Now maybe the plier isn't suited to twisting motions etc...., but beaten up by plastic?.... vs. steel? It looks like it's made out of pot metal. I found trying to use it as a screw driver was pretty uncomfortable; maybe good for a half turn tighten-ups, but anything other than that, not the best tool. Sticking to my red Swiss Army; not as techy looking, but it gets the job done with greater ease and grace.

Rugged Stylish Reliable Companion

A fantastic EDC (every day carry) multitool. Also excellent for camping or other outdoor activities where needle nose pliers and/or a flat/phillips screw driver might come in handy. It is primarily a knife, secondarily pliers, and finally some nice touches with the bit driver, pocket clip, spring clip, and bottle opener. Rugged, durable, beautiful design and craftsmanship. Keep it clean and you cant get any better for a sub 6oz multitool. An alternative might be the Leatherman Freestyle, but it sacrifices a few tool options. Stay away from imitations like Gerber, they are junk. This tool is a lifetime companion, and then you'll pass it on to the next generation.

Back To Basics In Modern Design

Only has the basic everyday used Leatherman Tools, but made well! The blade is very sharp and pliers are strong, have a great grip and cut wire with no troubles. If you want to travel light, this is the way to go! Would I Like To See: For the price I like a saw blade added as a second blade on the other handle (for cutting rope). Can opener blade or bit added. Many reviewers post they have trouble cleaning their Skeletool. I bought a 99 cents kids electric toothbrush to reach into my Skeletool and it works fine... no rust or dirt. Bottom line, great tool that I carry everyday but I still carry my swiss army knife too.

Good multitool, some questionable decisions.

The Knife - Sharp and sturdy, 90% of what I have used it for is slicing open cardboard boxes but it is up to heavier tasks as well. The Pliers - They provide a good sturdy grip. However I would appreciate it they weren't as tight The Screwdrivers - This was a big disappointment to me. The design of the screwdrivers lead a lot to be desired. First there is it placement. If digs into your hand if you are using the pliers. It also is tough to apply any pressure when you are using them. Finally I find that I have to change the bits all the time from Phillips to slotted. I don't need a large and small screw driver. Overall I guess I will keep it.

Best multi-tool I have had

I am surprised to see ANY negative reviews on this outstanding piece of gear. I have owned numerous multi-tools from many different manufactures and this is by far my favorite. It is easy to carry (not bulky like many other multi-tools) and is extremely handy for many every day jobs. I carry this daily and use it for many different tasks. This Leatherman was a gift and I have used this thing hard for over two years with no disappointments. The only thing to watch out for is the extra bits do have a tendency to fall out every now and then. Just pay attention and pop it back in if it does. Not a big deal. The blade has held its edge very well, even with a lot of heavy use such as cutting rope, cleaning fish, etc. etc. Good job on this one Leatherman!

Love it

I have had this tool for about 6 months now and I have carried it every day. The knife blade can defiantly hold an edge if sharpened properly. I have not had a problem with the stainless steel what so ever and I tend to be around salt water quite a bit. I would have wanted there to be a few more tools on it, but considering the size of the tool, it has a great proportion of size to tool ratio. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a heavy-duty multitool that is corrosion resistant.

PERFECT for your POCKET

PERFECT. There are other tools out there, but this one is the best for me. Other multi-tools have tons of different tools, but the problem is always that the 1,000 different tools are hard to use, add bulk to the other units and rarely see use. The Skeletool is different. You get what you need, in a format that is easy to use and is lightweight and comfortable. No fluff, No over-kill, just the perfect tool for your pocket. Quality on the item is top notch, and the comfort is unequaled. The Skeletool just FEELS RIGHT in your hand and in use. I'll purchase another one for myself just because I'm a fan, and I'd recommend everybody else to get one too. I'm the Goldielocks of multi-tool users and the Skeletool is JUST RIGHT!

Poor Ergonomics

I have owned an original Leatherman since they were released. The Skeletool had an attractive design and appeared to be a good minimalist tool. Behind the good looks is a poor design. The screwdriver socket is off-set which makes it awkward to use (same as on the original). The biggest issue I had was with the pliers. If you are right handed your thumb naturally falls where the back of the knife blade pinches it when closing the pliers. The tool does have a sharp knife blade but there are less expensive and lighter alternatives. I gave mine away, with a warning.

Just Great

This is an all-around great tool. It has only the functions that I need, and I haven't come upon a single task that I can't do without it. The pliers are incredibly sturdy, and I feel I can grip hard without hurting my hand. I like the belt clip, although most of the time I keep it clipped on my pocket. The knife was sharp when I bought it, and it keeps a blade well. The only problem I've ever had with it is a bit of rust in one spot. It is incredibly small, though, and doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. Overall, this is a great tool for any task.
