Not fitted for slim people

Im 5 foot 8 and weigh 128 pounds, the modern classic fit ran way to large on me, just like a blanket. This is the second year that I can't buy a jacket from columbia because they never think of the slim men. I feel that they assume everyone is 6FT tall and 200 pounds. What about the little men?! I refuse to buy north face but this is just not working out. I'm going to try the titanium line to see if it runs fitted..hopefully that works.

A light jacket that is plenty warm

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted a light ski jacket that wasn’t too bulky. With just 2 layers, long underwear shirt and a long sleeve outer shirt, I found this jacket to be plenty warm in 20-degree temps. I wanted the graphite/super blue, but it was out in my size, of large, so I went with black, and I’m so glad I did. Black looks so nice and many people have complimented on how well the jacket looks. Another nice feature about black is it is multi-functional and fits into different social environments outside the ski slopes. The black has a nice crisscross pattern too that changes with what light you’re in to being visible or not. Both these pictures I have attached were taken outside in the sun, of the same area of the jacket, 10 seconds apart. The picture that shows the crisscross pattern is in the shade, the picture that shows almost no crisscross pattern is in direct sunlight. Great jacket and very happy with purchase!!!

Love this jacket. Bought it for skiiing

It was time to upgrade from my old Columbia ski coat. This is great, and great for the price. I'm considering buying one for my son. The outside material seems very durable. The coat has a good number of pockets, including the one in the sleeve for lift gates that use RFID chips for lift passes. It's warm. I would say it runs a bit large. I usually wear an adult large sweatshirt but bought a medium and there is plenty of room for multiple layers under the coat. If I had a complaint, it would be on the inside "goggles" pocket. I'm not sure I would trust anything in it since it doesn't have a good closure like the pockets with zippers.

Very Cold Coat for Northern Wisconsin!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this coat to replace a Columbia jacket I have had for 12 years. I absolutely love the Columbia jackets and was pretty excited to get a new one. I was hugely dissapointed! This coat has no warmth at all. I tried the coat outside on a day that was 27 degrees. I was FREEZING and I was snowshoeing and not just standing still. We have had 2 weeks of weather at 20 degrees below zero - I can only imagine how cold I would have been if I had decided to keep this coat and try to wear it in our normal cold winters here in Northern Wisconsin! This is not a coat to purchase if you live in a cold climate and actually want to enjoy the outdoors!!!

I own two of these coats. Extremely warm and waterproof. I use these coats each time I ski. Temps in single digits and high winds. Very warm. Cost is far less than many other costs. Great buy.

Nice jacket

Love the jacket overall but the redesigned interior lining ( termed curtain) which requires snapping in various ways was confusing, impractical and useless. So I returned the jacket.

Perfect for those arctic blasts.

I spend a lot of time up in the northern US during the winter traveling and need something to keep me warm throughout. This is my second Omni-Heat jacket and they are above any expectations and very lightweight. Only thing if you are going to take a hot shower and then head out soon after I hope you don't wear glasses. The Omni-Heat will not let heat out except right up your chin into your now steamy glasses. :) They are very lightweight for the warmth they provide. I suggest trying one out!! About sizing I am right at the "high end" for measurements for the Large so I ordered an X=Large. It was way to big.. The Large fits perfect.

Ski,Field Use or Casual

This is a generously cut outer garment. It is highly functional for out of doors use. It is a durable if not rugged out shell fabric with both Omni Heat and insulation built in. It has sleeve cuff and a waist cuff which is designed to keep loose snow out. It is warm and built for layering too. The hood is generous but discretely detaches. All of the internal and external pockets are generous and functional. It covers the hip but is not constrictive. Ideal for skiing especially back country. I bought the Orange option and it will double for field use when hunting upland birds in more severe weather. I am 180# at 5'10" and athletic.

Tears easily

The jacket is warm and comfortable but the material is very flimsy. I bought it for skiing. I slid out on my right side and the material on the right arm of the jacket split right open causing the insulation to pop out. I had to duct tape it to finish out the week of skiing. I had a North Face jacket I used for more than 10 years of tree skiing without even a pull in the material. I'll be going back to North Face. I have a lot of Columbia gear that I have been very happy with. I am very disappointed with the quality of this jacket.

Lightweight, comfy and functional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lightweight and not bulky but surprisingly still warm. Not for the coldest of winters though : you would have to wear a sweater underneath for that. which isn’t a problem as it’s roomy enough. I would say it’s true to size. I’m almost 6’ and 170lbs and was teetering between M and L. M is a little tight around the chest (and I don’t have a big chest) although the other dimensions are perfect. I’m glad I bought L because it’s roomy enough for a sweater underneath. The only downside is the sleeves don’t have Omniheat insulation (not a problem for me as I usually wear long sleeves shirt underneath) ; otherwise this is perfect!
