I have been using the Trekz Air for a month now. They connect perfectly to my iPhone and computer (both at the same time) effortlessly, automatically. I make phone calls with them and get good reviews on the quality of sound callers are hearing on the other end. And they don't block the ear canal! I am using the AfterShokz primary to listen to books and as a blue tooth phone headset. I also have several high end music headphones with noise cancellation. I can wear them for hours without discomfort. The Trekz do NOT compete with those and should not be expected to. Don't look for audiophile quality music. But these are a super solid product and I seem to be using them more than any of my other headphones. Oh, and the battery life is excellent. So, two thumbs up for this product!

Purchased in Dec 2017 and have since had the original and the replacement die. 1st one i had one speaker go out after two months and the replacement is no longer responsive, no power. Customer service has been very responsive and helpful in sending replacements and when working, i do enjoy the design, fit and use of the Air headphones. I just wish they lasted.

Awesome for any Outdoor Activity!

*As a Dyrt Ranger, I also get products to test and review in the field.* I tested the Aftershokz Trek Air Headphones while on a trip to the Mojave Desert to hike and drive the Mojave Road 4x trail. These headphones are wireless with bone conduction technology, which means they don’t actually go in your ears. Wrapping around the ears, they sit on your temples and just behind you ear - very futuristic! My favorite qualities are: • The sound quality is great though it’s even better when you wear the provided ear plugs! I would say it’s comparable to other wireless ear buds currently on the market. • They sit very comfortably on my head and don’t move around when active and they don’t get sweaty. • As someone with smaller ear holes (is that the right term?) they don’t hurt my ears which is great! • The buttons are easy to use and straightforward. They also have a built-in mic so it can be used to talk on the phone, say when you’re in the car! • The charge lasts quite a while on these headphones, and it charges rather quickly. The cord is also pretty universal which makes charging a breeze! • Finally, they come in a convenient smooth matte bag so everything (including the cord and ear plugs) can stay together. And I LOVE the forest green color I picked. They are truly great active headphones and are perfect for outdoor activities when you want to enjoy the world around you or hear you friends while hiking but still want to listen to your tunes! Plus, the bone conduction means that everyone around you isn’t forced to enjoy your music – please say no to hiking with Bluetooth speakers and get some of these!!!

Great!

I have wanted and waited for headphones that leave the ear open so I was psyched to find the AfterShokz Trekz Air Headphones. They are great! I want to hear what is going on around me in the world AND listen to music, podcasts, etc. These headphones make it possible. They are lightweight, flexible, easy to wear, easy to operate, and they hold a charge for several hours. I wear glasses and have had no problem wearing the headphones, my glasses, and a hat at the same time. The "bone conduction" technology works and I am very happy! If you are wondering whether to take the plunge on these, do it! I highly recommend them.

just won't last

terrific headphones as far as fit, sound. Use for long runs. First pair began spontaneously shutting off within 6 months of purchase. Exchanged through REI for a second pair. Same story, just 10 months. I run with these in Colorado during relatively mild conditions (not during heavy precipitation, snow, rain), so these are not getting exposed to heavy moisture. Yes, I sweat when running, but not excessive (especially here). I verify the charging port is closed during use and even dry the headphones of any sweat moisture immediately after run. Despite that, this is the second pair that spontaneously quit working within a year. Hoping to return.

Great for training and biking

These are THE headphones for active sports. Since they are bone conducting and sit on the edge of your ears, you can still hear hear noises around you while listening to music or taking calls. It did take some trial and error to figure out the right part of my head for the headphones to work the best (my husband on the other hand had no problem when he gave them a try). They hook over the ears, but the sound mechanism itself needs to sit on the bones that are in front of your ears. Once I figured that out, operating them while wearing sunglasses and a bike helmet was no problem. They are so lightweight, they were unnoticeable aside from the sound of the music I was playing. Yet they were still secure: they stayed in place even while making a bumpy, rocky descent on a mountain bike trail. Pros: Lightweight; can hear other humans, cars, etc; great sound quality; ease of use; water/sweat resistance; easy to clean; fits under helmet; fits with glasses; ability to take calls; stays in place. Cons: Optimum sound quality may take a few uses to dial in; not noise cancelling (but earplugs were included if you need this). I will be making the Aftershokz Trekz Air Headphones a part of my kit for biking, climbing, running, and skiing. Their small size and convenient carry case makes them ideal for travel, but I'll definitely want those ear plugs with me on a plane!

Perfect for Cycling

These were the perfect solution for me. I wanted to listen to music while cycling, but headphones are unsafe, and sometimes illegal, and I did not want to have my music playing out loud, potentially disturbing others. These allow me to enjoy my music while still hearing everything around me (traffic, etc.). The battery life is good - I get 6-8 hours of listening time per charge. The sound is not as rich as traditional headphones, which is innate to this technology - but you still get to listen to your music, and the sound is still good. Bluetooth pairing is fast, and controls are easy to use.

Great headphones

I really love these headphones. I use them for running, working out, walks, biking, cleaning, and phone calls. They always stay in place during any type of workout activity and they're very comfortable. I hate having headphones in my ears so these have been wonderful. I wear them when running/walking with other people and can have a conversation while listening to music. It's been great to be able to hear outside noise when running/biking. Pairs well with my phone, watch, and computer. A charge usually gets me a few days. Controls are on the headphones for turning on, pairing, volume, skipping songs, answering calls, pausing.

Full Disclosure

I was very hesitant when I ordered these, particularly when it came to the quality of sound. I was very interested in the idea, but thought they would be gimmicky and I would end up disappointed based on the sound and the price point. Considering that they don't seal off your ears, the sound is nothing short of amazing. No, if you want booming base, and all ambient sound to vanish, these are definitely not for you. If you're looking for quality sound while interacting with every day life, these are worth every penny. I haven't gone out for a run yet, so I might be back with a negative update, but I've been wearing them around the house and I'm in absolute love with these things. Comfort, quality and build are all top notch.

Amazing headphones!

These headphones are a wave of the future. Instead of sitting in your ear like most headphones, they sit on your jawbone. They are Bluetooth, so that means wireless! They are super easy to pair and connect with your phone. As with all technology, it is really best to charge them straight out of the box. The colored light on the side of the headphone is red if it is not charged or blue if it’s fully charged. The pads that sit on your jawbone sends vibrations through the bone to your year. They come in sleek colors, and they are so lightweight and comfortable you can forget they are there. The point of these headphones is to be able to hear the outside world around you and still listen to your tunes. This keeps you attentive to other people in the office or, in my case, able to hear your music over roaring waterfalls on the trail. I had never heard of bone conduction technology before these headphones, and I certainly will remember now. These are funky and fresh. I love them, I love that they stay on my head while on the go, no cords to untangle and get in the way, or earbuds to pop out of my ear while walking. If you are not moving, the vibrations can be a little intense at higher volumes or songs with more bass, it makes it feel a little strange. They have a six hour battery life, and only takes about an hour and a half to charge. I also wish that there was a voice control in these as well so I could continue being hands free and answer the phone, skip songs or pause, at the same time. I hear that it’s in the works though, so I’m willing to wait. Plus, the button controls are easy to use, so it’s not a deal breaker. They come with a great carrying bag, ear plugs (if you don’t want to hear the world around you, you can use the earplugs to intensify to the volume of the Trekz Air.) and a charging cord. They also have a great warranty, return and exchange policy. There also arrived super quickly, I have been able to use them for a few weeks before the review, giving me the opportunity to get used to them and form an opinion. These are by far the best headphones I have ever had and I don’t think I can go back to earbuds. I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

Great, except...

I purchased AfterShokz headphones in March 2019. I loved them. In late April 2022, they died. I contacted AfterShokz to ask if they can repair them. No. I asked how common it is for AfterShokz headphones to die after three years. They replied that it's important not to overcharge them because doing so will shorten their lifespan (which, they said, can be as long as 7 years). I have all of the printed materials that came with the headphones. There is no warning about overcharging. AfterShokz will give me a 20% discount toward the price of replacement headphones. Given that I lost more than half of the value of the headphones through no fault of my own, 20% is insufficient.
