I read several reviews about this boot and the one that intrigued me most was from a lady who said that the boot was too narrow for her. I believe she said something about nobody having feet narrow enough to wear the boots. Since I have a rather narrow foot (just a A width, though) and I love ECCOs I though I would give them a try. Immediately I felt the support and was sold completely. Granted the boot is narrow, and is not for everyone, but if you want a mid weight boot and don't want to wear an abundance of socks, this may be the boot for you. It is for me.
Even for Ecco, a trusted brand I wear every day, these boots are extremely narrow! I had to size up 2 sizes in order to wear them and even so, there is no way I can wear a winter sock and be comfortable with them. The picture looks like a hiking boot but in person, this is more of a shoe. Lovely construction, soft leather with an attractive matte appeal, extremely (extremely!) lightweight, nice stitching details, and a look that is different from other laceups you'll see around town. However, for me the feel is more of a high-top boat shoe rather than a hiker or trail shoe; the sole does not provide that extra measure of shock absorption and even with the curved toe, you land quite flat. The shoe did not meet my expectations for a hiking boot or trail shoe but since I can wear these as a fun casual day-to-day shoe, I am keeping them! And they are lined with Gore Tex, which I love. Am not sure why ECCO made these so narrow-lasted; they would totally rock with a bit more width and shape to the foot and more heft to the sole.... but, they were on sale!
