I was looking for a well-built replacement for my last boots that got through 5 years of backpacking and rough land work. These books are going to be returned, unfortunately. They are very stiff and I could barely take a normal step uphill after about a mile. After 2 miles, I had the worst blisters I've ever experienced while hiking on both heels. I don't foresee these boots softening up at all. Because they are so stiff there is no heel to toe rock, and because of the blisters caused by a poorly placed seem right at the heel, I could not use the front of my foot on steeper uphill climbs, leaving me to place my foot flat each time and make near full contact with the ground. The lace up system, grip and goretex are awesome. The fit was horrendous.
I love those boots! The pulley system make them easier to lace up. I used them hiking and also a weekend of backpacking. Stunning! Comfy out of the box.
I love my Alterra boots. They were comfy out of the box. I used them for light hiking and backpacking. The pulley system make them easy to lace.
