Very comfy winter boots

The Sorel Whitney Short boots are lightweight and very comfortable. They feel like sneakers or outdoor slippers and are more comfortable than my running shoes. They are constructed so that the tongue is sewn in over most of the foot (see left foot in picture) which should help keep snow out so long as you don't step in deep snow. Since I received the boots for testing in the fall, I could only step in very shallow puddles and walk through wet grass. My feet stayed dry and there was no moisture seeping in. I sprayed the top of my feet with a hose for about 30 seconds and the water first ran off, but eventually soaked in a bit. My socks did stay dry after this brief test. The temperature outside only got down to the mid 40s F, so while my feet felt cozy and warm, my impression is that in sub 20 F temperatures, my toes will feel cold. They are lined throughout with microfiber material and the puffy parts have fill, but that fill does not extend past the pleathery trim that circles the boot above the midsole. Fit: (9US/40EU) I have a wide foot (especially the toe end of my foot) and the boots were fine, but I would not be able to wear heavy socks. I normally wear 9B or 9C/D. I wore these boots with lightweight and mid to light weight socks and they were okay. But I was more comfortable when I had the thinner socks on. With a heavier sock, I would want to size up a half size. If you have a regular or narrow width foot, I would think you would have no problems. The laces travel through triangular rings and this system works to keep the boots snug, but there is a gap between rings where the boot turns up from the foot towards the ankle. The gap flares out when you walk and looks like an entry points for snow (see right foot in picture). This last issue is my only complaint. Overall I like the boots a lot because they don't feel like boots -- they are very comfortable, warm, and the soles seem grippy enough to handle a bit of ice. Maybe due to the lightweight construction, I have a better sense of ground contact than with other heavier boots and even running shoes. Normally I would not wear boots with a furry collar because it's not my style, but it does help with heat retention and once I had on the boots I didn't mind how the furry stuff looks. The boots will be great for commuting to work, running errands, walking the dog, and other outdoor activity in light snow.

1 small but fatally annoying flaw

Would have been exactly what I wanted but for the poor lace design. Those "D-ring" eyelets constantly flip around so the lace is in contact with the straight side, no matter how tight or loose I lace them. Once this happens, the outer sides of the shoe to look bunched up and they feel looser. The gaps between the tongue and sides go far down so I was already nervous that water could get in. To be fair, I did one rainy bike ride with them and water did not get in that way. The shifting eyelets are definitely uncomfortable and annoying, though. Real bummer, because otherwise they were perfect. Back they went.

THE BEST SNOW SHOES EVER

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although I've lived in the Northeast my entire life, I never decided it was necessary to buy snow shoes until now. Since I need to walk over 20 mins daily, I thought it was about time. Buying these shoes was the best decision ever! Aside from how ridiculously cute and stylish they are, they provide arch support so they 're very comfortable. On top of that, they're SUPER lightweight, and don't look too bulky. The fur on the inside is incredibly soft, it really feels like you're walking on clouds with these. I haven't had a chance to wear them in the snow yet, but really looking forward to that day! DEFINITELY worth the money. You won't be disappointed.

Warm and comfortable

I love the color and the warmth. If you have wide feet they are slightly narrow. The only thing I did not like about this boot is that there Is a gap that forms in between the first and second pair of eyelets for the laces. There should have been another ring there to keep the boot from bunching there. I don’t like that it looks bulky there due to the lack of another ring. It gives me the impression snow could easily get caught there. The boots don’t feel like boots they are super cozy. So bummed for the gap.

Little warm clouds for my feet

When I got these boots I was expecting durable and warm winter boots that would keep my feet protected from the elements. I was not expecting that they would be so comfortable! Most winter boots I only wear long enough to get myself to or from my car or a building, and then take off. These boots I think I could wear all day! And boy are they warm! My feet stayed toasty and comfortable! I wore them through two walk in the rain and water just ran off... no soggy feet for me. I recommend these boots for anyone who needs rain/snow protection and hates having cold and wet feet.

Coziest winter boot

The Sorel Whitney Short lace snow boots feel more like a slipper than a boot. They are so comfortable and cozy. The boots are easy to take on and off with a lace up system and lack of rigidity that allows you to adjust for the best fit. The material seems durable and well made and I love the way they look. Definitely very warm, insulating, and comfortable. Very lightweight, especially compared to other cold weather shoes - these feel like sneakers. I could wear these all day in the snow/rain. I did find the fit to be smaller and narrower than typical.

Cozy, practical, stylish

These are my go-to cold weather shoes. They are so comfortable and warm. I agree with other reviews that this model does run narrow. I usually wear between a 9 and a 10. I ordered the 10 for these and they fit great, but are definitely narrow. That being said, I don't think I'll need to wear thick socks with these shoes because they are so warm. Traction is ok. I wouldn't consider these shoes my go-to *snow* boots when Boise gets more than 2" of snow, but they are great when it's cold. They are easy to move in, and are very light. They remind me of sleeping bags for my feet.

Too narrow for those who need a little extra

I liked almost everything about this boot, which I bought via another, local retailer. The 200g warmth, the waterproof, the cushioned feel of the insole, heel support and overall instep support that felt like a sneaker. However I ultimately returned them due to the narrowness of the boot. I need a roomy tie area but my toes were a little squished. I couldn't justify the price for that issue. I hated having to turn them down. But the lacing allowed for no modifications to help make space since it's all a smooth D-ri g style lace up for quick on/ off. This would be great for the right foot type! Also needed a size 9 when 8/8.5 is my usual.

Comfortable and Cute

Most snow boots are not aesthetically pleasing but these were attractive in the box and on my foot; I received many compliments on my first day of wear! I wore them on a couple of hikes and they were very comfortable; they could be a little wider for flat feet, but did not cause a problem with functionality. Feet were warm but did not sweat inside the boot. They are true to size, which is important for my size 11 feet!

Lightweight comfort

These boots are very comfortable and lightweight. I have another pair of Sorels that I don't like to wear if I'm doing a lot of walking/hiking because they are much heavier. They run slightly narrow and slightly small. I would probably size up a half size to wear with thicker socks. My two twenty something daughters really liked the look of them and offered to take them off my hands. :)
