Takes 3 D batteries. Very bright. The dimmer bag is very helpful in cutting down the glare in camp. It does have a carabiner clip on top to hang.

Lights up well for overall task lighting when hung up high over a table, which is useful for prepping/ cooking w car camping. Outside of that purpose, found it difficult to utilize at the campsite after dark bc of its very bright white light, which renders it sort of as a single purpose item. Even when car camping this is cumbersome. So will be returning for a lantern with adjustable lumens &/or color temperature

Great for Camping

Bought this lantern for a Labor Day camping excursion at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I always bring a tailgate style canopy tent for cover the outdoor kitchen on camping trips. I'll use strong lighting if I can but didn't want to keep the generator running the whole evening to power those. Hung this up top inside the canopy and it was perfect. Like how it has different levels of illumination. Very bright when it needed to be, but could get it low enough so the bugs weren't too bad. Plenty of battery life left after that long weekend. Would recommend.

Bought this to give as a gift, however the packaging was torn and taped back together….hardly “gift” material. The actual product t seems fine, but did I received a used or repackaged item?????

Overpriced and Not Built to Last

The bag and clasp broke pretty easily and soon after buying it. Also it is not very versatile in function.

Extremely Bright

I bought this over a year ago and just got to use it camping for the first time. Unfortunately, I don’t still have the dimmer bag. This lantern will blind you with the light of 1,000 suns if you’re not careful. It’s so bright that it’ll leave spots in your vision and it makes it hard to see anything else. It might be more useful if it’s hung above eye level, but we didn’t have a place to try this. To me, the dimmer bag seems a bit silly if the product isn’t practical without it. The plastic should probably just be frosted instead. I’m most likely going to replace this with something more practical in the future.

Life Saver

We got caught in a lightning storm and the winds blew our tent over while we were in it. This little lamp lit up our area well enough to get all our get packed and rush off of our site. I’m sure there are better ones out there, but for $30, this thing saved all of our other gear and personal items.

Nice general use light

This light is a great overall light. It is bright, doesn't cost too much, i works well setting on the table to eat by or play cards. As far as hanging up a couple of feet above head level, it is still okay. If this light could hand upside down where the battery case doesn't block the downward light would be a plus.

Bright White Light

The compact lantern, which runs on three D cell batteries, provides bright white radiant light, useful but cold, and is efficient with its power source. Some day we may see LED products like this that produce the warm light comparable to the glow of a propane lantern but not yet.

Can’t look directly at light w/out spotting

Not very useable for shedding light on a task at close range--bulb is way too bright at the high and mid settings. If you look directly at it--even momentarily--you get those familiar, temporary spots in your vision. There should be a diffuser of some sort to reduce the intensity of the LED bulb. I'll be returning it for something else.
