great utility jacket

Bought this for my active north TX ranch boy. Jumps fences, runs thru pastures, chases critters. Light weight really concerned him with our spontaneous ice storm & windy rains. Wanted a puffer without fleece, as hay does not come out readily once it get in, and down is not at all water-resistant. Found that this reflective layer technology has kept him surprisingly warm & we love the oh-so-cozy pockets. I have even managed to borrow myself a couple times. I tend to get very cold, so was pleasantly surprised myself.

My son LOVED this jacket and wore it happily. Until two seams just tore open. I’m incredibly disappointed. This was an expensive jacket and it is cold outside. Now I need another one!!

Low quality shell and craftsmanship

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shell layer (the green section) is a thin white plastic layer with a thin green coating. it has no durability and it is not woven. The sleeve are very susceptible to tear and ripping off since the shell is very thin and flimsy. The upper part (navy) has a better quality though. Also all stitches are falling apart after 3 weeks of use. It is a disappointing product from the brand.

Columbia no longer stands behind their products

Long time customer of Columbia here. Among other products, have consistently bought snow gear for our children from Columbia. Has always gone fine until this year. One ski jacket worn only a few times had the zipper fall off. This clearly should not happen. I was told the only solution was to submit as a warranty claim, pay for the return shipping myself and then wait 4-6 weeks. Other than the insult to pay to ship something that is clearly a defect, the idea of waiting 4-6 weeks for a winter product is ridiculous. An experience with Columbia that has lost them a customer (even with whatever amount of Columbia rewards I currently have). Beware.

Excellent Cold Weather Jacket for the Hills

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you Columbia! We needed a jacket for our six year old who is taking Alpine lessons this year. We wanted a warm coat that was not over bulky. Well, look no further!!! Our son loves his coat. It makes him feel invincible and it will work for all our winter outdoor activities. At the end of the day, this is a quintessential piece of gear for any youngster who recreates in the winter. If you need your little one to be warm, feel like they are superman/woman while wearing, and desire quality, here you go!

Great Jacket!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this jacket for my son. It is nice and warm, the length is great, and I love the adjustable powder skirt for snow play. I love the adjustable hood, it helps keep the hood from sliding over my son's eyes which is always an issue with other brand jackets. The fleece lining in the hood is soft and cozy. I absolutely love the outgrown system, it is such an ingenious design and makes me very loyal to Columbia for my kiddos jackets. I loved this so much I bought one for my daughter as well!

Nice jacket, but hood doesn't fit helmet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This could be a great jacket except that the hood doesn't fit properly over a ski helmet, and my grandson uses a ski helmet. The hood needs to be enlarged so that it fits comfortably over the helmet, the shoulders of the jacket stay down on the boy's shoulders, and the bottom of the hood zips fully and just covers the boy's chin, not his eyes. Good value and quality and functionality otherwise. But wearing the helmet, the jacket won't be much good in a storm.

Great Winter Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son really likes this jacket. Our snow season hasn’t started yet but we’ve had other versions of this inside reflective heat liner and it’s been great! They are thin but he says they really do keep him warm on the winter playground and in the snow! Love that they added the grow with me sleeves! We love this brand, it holds up really well to make to to younger brother too!

Love this coat

I bought this for my 8-year-old son. It works very well for being out in the snow and all of our winter sports. He has been ice skating, sledding, and cross country skiing in this coat and it worked great for all of those. He gets cold fairly easily, and this coat has kept him warm. Love the color combination too...nice to have something other than black!

Perfect for our rainy winter!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love Columbia! My son says this coat is super warm and he loves it. Its not too bulky, the small fits him well, he is an average, skinny 8yo. The outgrow function is great, will likely get two seasons out of this jacket. It's perfect for our mild and rainy PNW winters and warm enough for a trip to the mountain with a layer underneath.
