Rated 3 out of 5 by from wanted to give 5 stats First off the bike is good quality. My biggest complaint is the handle bars are way too narrow for a beginner rider. My daughter is 4 (41" tall) and mastered her 12" bike with no training wheels, so upgraded to this bike. She was way too big at this point for the 12" bike. After a day of frustration on this new bike, she struggled with having good control while turning, I started looking at differences in the old 12" bike and new 16". It became clear the only big difference was handle bars where much narrower (18"w for new 16" compared to 22"w on old 12" bike). Long story short put on a wider set of bars (24"w) and no issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value, but inspect thoroughly The bike has a good geometry for kids, feels solid and is a good value (5 stars!). However, the bike assembly by the local REI store was sub-par (I would give it 2 stars out of 5): The handlebars were not properly aligned with the front wheel, stem was not properly tightened, tires were not properly inflated (had only about 8 psi in each), chain was too loose and kept hitting the guard, and one of the training wheels was missing a washer, which wasn't a big problem since I took them off anyway. Decided to fix things myself at home and do it right, instead of waiting on the shop to fix it. I had great experiences with the bike shop in the REI store before; not sure what happened this time. I recommend inspecting this bike thoroughly when picking it up from store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rev 16 bike Bike seems okay I wish the handle bars could be elevated for taller kids! My daughter is leaning over a little right now and I'm not sure what it will look like in a year. . Bike rides good stops good only back pedal brakes training wheels work good. She loves it.

Questions & Answers

Does this bike come assembled? Is 16" a good size for an average 7 yr old?

Asked by: kr4lori
If the bike is shipped to one of our retail stores, the bike will be fully assembled by one of our certified bike technicians once it arrives. If the bike is shipped to your home, minor assembly is required. Inseam is the determining factor when sizing bikes. Can you remove the pedals?  I have a 4year old (just turned) and think a balance bike might be too small/poor value.  Open to recommendations if a balance bike is the right answer. Thanks.

Asked by: Daniel
Yes, the pedals can be removed from this bike if needed.

What do the stickers look like? This really is more of a suggestion than a question. I love the specs on the bike, but the kid riding it thinks it looks "boring" next to the competitor bike when she sees this bike without stickers.
