Nicely made bike and well set-up in the store. All parts seem to be high quality. My daughter hasn't put a whole lot of miles on it yet, but it's her first multi-gear/hand brake bike and she was very nervous. One little ride down the street and she was loving it. The finish on the frame seems very even and quite thick/durable. The grip shift mechanism for the front gears does seem to be a little tight but that might be able to be adjusted. The gears don't slip out at all. Great bike!
I bought the Rev 24 for my 10yo. The frame allows for him to feel comfortable with the bigger bike and to grow into it. I like the fact that there is only one shifter, and the gears allow for a full range of terrain. There are 7 gears but they are sufficient for our purposes for city or fire road low hills. The price is right for the light weight frame and components. You really can't get a better value for the quality. The service at REI was speedy and friendly. Great purchasing experience overall.
This is a great bike, the only thing missing is a kick stand! My daughter loves it!
Although my 8 year old who had never ridden without training wheels before was able to ride on his REV CTY bike (w/o training wheels) right away I am not a big fan of the bike. Here are few items I find very objectionable in a kids bike that retails for $469: 1. This bike come with 3 chain rings in the front, and 7 speed cassette in the back. That's total 21 gears targeted for for kids between 7 -11 yrs of age. I think its a complete overkill! 2. I would be okay with 21 gears if there was a way to lock the gears in place. The bike comes with twist shifter which often get engaged accidentally by kids. 3. All the cables (gear and brake) are exposed, they run right next to the frame. This would have been okay 20 years ago but by 2026 standards and the ticket price I would call this is poor design. 4. For $469 kids bike it does not come with kick stand, or bell. Its a kids bike for crying out loud!
Importantly this color is pinkish, not the red it appears on the screen. My daughter loves the color it’s beautiful but not so pink that a boy would not be comfortable with it but definitely pinkish. This bike fits my daughter perfectly at 4‘5“ 9 years old, it’s fairly lightweight and well engineered balanced etc. much better than typical big box bikes
Other co-op bikes have been great but this bike has been real trouble. Badly designed rims with little tube protection led to a popped air tube. The tube used is an uncommon size making changing it harder. The derailleur has had continual issues. It popped the derailleur wire loose. The front derailleur has had trouble shifting into the highest gear as well. Too many problems to reccommand
I bought this bike for my Granddaughter and was surprised a bike costing over $400 comes without a kickstand. The local REI Store didn’t have one in stock to fit it.
The Bike is great - the sales Personnel were very helpful and knowledgeable.
