Salewa footwear fits true to size and runs from medium to slightly narrow in width. For Mountaineering boots, Salewa recommends sizing up one half size to ensure comfort on long descents.
Salewa’s Alpine Fit incorporates a unique climbing lacing system that offers a large range of adjustability. To ensure a proper fit, Salewa recommends opening all laces through the forefoot as wide as possible before adjusting to your comfort, starting at the toes.

These have been the best boots I have ever purchased - hands down! Didn't have time to break them in before spending the New Year in Zion National Park, but didn't encounter one hot-spot or uncomfortable issue throughout 4 days if multi-terrain/weather/mile hikes. They can run a tad small. I bought these at the end of the season and all that was left in my range was an 8. I believe an 8.5 would have been a bit better overall. I loved these so much I bought two other pair of Salewa shoes - low top approach and hikers. Pleased with those as well! BTW, the 8 fits perfectly in those two, so I think these run a tad small as described above.
I've been using these for just under a year now. I got terrible blisters on middle sister from not pre-taping my feet with kinesthetic tape. I continued to use them with kt tape and while I didn't get blisters, my feet were terribly uncomfortable the whole time. They fit length wise really well. I think I have pretty middle ground feet in terms of width, so my conclusion is that these must run narrow. They are very water-proof and even worked on a winter climb of st. helens despite being more summer season boots (my feet were slightly frozen but it helped to not feel the pain the entire time of the boots squeezing on my feet in the wrong places.
I had been wanting to buy a pair of mountaineering boots for awhile but was continuing to rent because I hadn't found a pair I truly liked. I have narrower feet and most mountaineering boots felt too wide and bulky. These have a great streamlined fit that hugs my feet just the right amount. Best part, I wore these on a two day climb of Shasta right out of the box and no blisters! Everyone else (in more expensive and rented) boots came down with blisters and I didn't even have a single hot spot. Love these! A great mountaineering bolt that hardly feels heavier than a standard hiking boot.
I am in love with these boots! They require very little breaking in time, and are perfect for summer and fall mountaineering. I especially love that they're comfortable and easy to backpack and scramble in, so they're great for big approaches in the Sierras where you have to hike in a base camp worth of gear, then climb up a peak. I pretty much never get blisters in these, and I've logged numerous 20+ mile days. They are light for a mountaineering boot, too! I can confirm that you can ice climb in them, though the toes on mine were a bit narrow for the crampons I borrowed, so watch out for that! Overall, a stellar product that more people need to know about!
FYI, these crampons are hybrid crampon compatible, not just strap on.
Bought these for ice climbing and though they at comfortable and work for the sport my feet are always freezing. My Marriot boots do better at keeping my feet warm. Otherwise they are great boots for ice climbing/ snowshoeing and decent to walk around in.
