Rated 5 out of 5 by from I HATE mummy bags!! I bought this about a week ago and got to use it for the first time last night. The weather was moderate so I can not guarantee the temp rating. However, I can say that this bag cures every thing that I hate about mummy bags. It is not cramped. It allows easy movement from back, to side, to stomach. The flap at the neck seals out the cold and the pillow pocket is a "why didn't I think of that?" idea. It might be said that it is bigger or a little heavier than some mummy bags but the added comfort level makes it worth it. My ## brand bag goes on to eBay tomorrow!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I fit! Light and warm for the big and tall This was more than I had planned on spending on a bag, but I'm 6'3 and 285 pounds. I have broad shoulders and big legs and I CAN ACTUALLY FIT all the way down into this bag, shoulders and all and use the pillow pocket as a hood if I want. I go the LONG version and It's the first warm, lightweight bag I've ever been able to fit in. I've used it twice so far and it is wonderful. I have other, much heavier XL bags that I fit into, but I'm not taking a 9lb sleeping bag on a backpacking trip. This thing is light, warm, and SUPER spacious. If you're a small person, it probably has too much room and wouldn't be warm to its rating because of the extra space. But if you're a big person and looking for a warm bag you can actually get zipped up inside and is light enough to carry on a backpacking trip, GET THIS BAG! I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of room for the big guy! Bought this a few months ago to replace a more traditional mummy design (mummy too constricting) bag. Tried the Disco 15 Long in cool low 40 degree weather and it was a champ. Allowed me plenty of leg room and shoulder room as I slept on either my back or my sides. Loved the additonal "blanket" flap which I could move inside or outside when I was getting too warm. The additional vent slots helped cool the bag without having to open the entry zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this bag! Just got the Disco and took it for a test in a Florida state park... fantastic bag that is very breathable. We will be able to use this in a variety of situastions from where we are now in Florida to Wyoming in the summer and fall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable but not a good cold weather bag I agree with other reviews about how comfortable this bag is - absolutely. I've had it out and about now for about 30 nights. Good bag for temps in mid 40s or above. Even on warm nights it's very easy to manage temp with clothing options, vents and zipper. Below 45 I needed a full zip, light weight long underwear - top and bottom - plus smart wool sock liners. Below 40 I added a hat, heavy socks, mid weight versus light base layer and really needed the draw string cinched up. I was sleeping on an insulated air mattress with R3. Still and all I like the bag for it's comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Roomy and Warm I have not tried this in the back country yet but gave it a 45 minute test run on my back deck at 30 degrees F with wind. Started in sweat pants and long sleeve shirt. After I warmed up I was down to shorts and t-shirt with no socks and was toasty warm. I especially liked the chin tuck feature. Made it really easy to burrow in against the wind. I held back on 1 star for two reasons. Still a little difficult to zip it all the way to the top. Also, I have not field tested it around any kind of moisture to see if it meets the dryness claims. Initial reaction is it will work as advertised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and extremely comfortable I bought this bag because I need to be able to move my legs about when I sleep. I don't just sleep on my side, I sleep with one knee bent and the other one straight in all different combinations. When using a traditional mummy bag I would wake up a dozen times every night because I couldn't move my legs the way I want and just feel uncomfortable. I don't have claustrophobia but I would definitely dare call it a borderline claustrophobic experience. Not in this bag! This bag gives me the freedom to get a full nights sleep. I can lay on my side with one leg straight and the other one bent completely and still fit without problems. And I'm a tall guy at 190cm/6'2". This sleeping bag comes with a snag-guard to prevent the zipper from snagging. The problem is it's only on one side so it still snags. Not the biggest of issues, all zippers will snag. I feel that the thermal-gils did help vent a bit of heat when it was too warm, so not just a gimmick. The mini blanket is super nice and soft, makes a huge difference on colder nights. The pillow pocket was useful too. In my experience, it worked best with a down jacket. All in all the most comfortable bag I've ever used. You just have to realize that it is a compromise in size, weight and warmth compared to a mummy-bag. In my opinion it is a compromise worth taking to get a good nights sleep. I feel that Nemo has made a good effort into making it small, warm and light weight considering the circumstances. There are only two things I wish they made different and that they might do differently in future models. The first is to skip the insulation in the bottom to save a bit of weight and add a pad sleeve instead to keep the bag in place. The second thing would be a way to vent heat from the foot end of the bag. Either by extending the zipper all the way down or some other way to make it possible to stick your feet out from the bottom.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 15 degrees in 40+ degree weather I am not happy with this product. I just spent 4 days freezing my behind off in the Utah desert. It never got close to 15 degrees there, and I was in a tent, with an additional blanket and warm clothes and a dog, still managed to shiver all night. Also I'm 5'8" and have no idea how a taller individual could comfortably squeeze into this sleeping bag. Other reviews have commented on how roomy their bag was, I don't think I'm abnormally wide, but perhaps I got a dud. The bag was plenty warm this summer in the Idaho mountains when it didn't dip below 50 at night.

Questions & Answers

I'm 5'11.   Would it be overkill to get the Long?

Asked by: IrishIronHead
I'm 5'10" and have never regretted going with a long bag. Of course this isn't a mummy bag, but if you like even more freedom of movement, then long will give you just a bit more. But if you are the type of backpacker who is counting every 1/16th of an ounce, then go with the regular -- it's 3-ounces lighter.

Does this bag have down on the bottom or do you have to have a sleeping pad to go with it?

Asked by: Dustin
You should always use a sleeping pad, even on bags with insulation on the bottom.

The Nemo website lists the regular Disco 15 as having a 64 shoulder and hip girth. The REI specs say it only has a 60 shoulder and hip girth. That is a big difference. Which is correct?

Asked by: Sierralove
The regular left has a shoulder girth of 64 inches and the long Left has a shoulder girth of 66 inches. Thank you for bringing this information to our attention, we will update the product listing on as soon as possible.

I need the extra room and this looks like a great bag since the Nemo Sonic is very expensive. I am planning a Himalaya trek with REI and we're supposed to have bags rated 1-14*. This is 15*. For a late April departure would I be OK with this bag?

Asked by: JoeH
The temperature rating is a guideline to compare sleeping bags for warmth. Everyone's body and sleep comfort is different and therefore we cannot determine if a 15 degree bag will be warm enough for your trip. You can always add a sleeping bag liner for added warmth if needed.
