Sweet shell for splitboarding and backcountry snowboarding

I have been using this as my main shell for the past 2 winter seasons for splitboarding and snowboarding. It has the perfect balance of waterproof-ness/durability without being to heavy for everyday touring (which means it is in the pack quite often.) When the temps are nice and cold i find myself wearing the jacket on the hike up, it breaths really well. I am 6'2", 155lbs and i got a XXL, because i'm a snowboarder and i like a loose fit. Size up if you're like me! Side note: this shell is also in my summer backpack for camping trips when the weather looks grim. Really versatile piece of gear.

Jacket is bomber in the mountains!

I bought this jacket looking for a new hard shell. I was a little hesitate to purchase it because of the "trim fit". I am 5'9 and about 200 pounds and the jacket is a little smaller than most OR products which I guess I should of expected because of the "trim fit". With that being said I was still able to fit a base layer and a soft shell under it. I was extremely impressed with this jackets ability to handle the elements. I decided to go on a hike at Loveland Pass (Mtn Sniktau 13,240 ft) and the wind was whipping! Before I even started the hike I threw on this shell and it did an amazing job of blocking the wind!! I would recommend this product... just be careful with the sizing which now I know to maybe go a little larger with OR "trim fit" jackets.

Great Coat

So many great things about this coat. But 1 bad. Been using this coat now for about 1 year, it is incredibly breathable, light, and durable, BUT the bottom of the jacket is to tight around my hips, it fits perfect ever where else though. It definitely is a bit longer then most jackets and i think that might be part of the issue as it comes down to about crotch height. It's tight enough that when I sit down the bottom part of the zipper with start to spread and open up. i'm 6ft tall and 185lb with a 34" waist.

Good - but one major flaw

Overall a great jacket. Fits like a glove and really lightweight. I have used it for many different activities - backcountry skiing, downhill skiing, hiking, casual wear. There is one thing that I cannot get past. I may run a little hot, but I had a very thin layer (highly breathable) and the Axiom on top. I was working hard and sweating. Regretfully, the jacket now smells and has retained the BO smell. I have tried all washing products but the smell returns with minimal exertion. It's really unfortunate and will likely have to return it if the smell doesn't wash out. Pit zips would be great.

Awesome Hardshell

I really love this jacket. I like it especially because a lot of newer technical hardshells only go down to your waist, resulting in uncomfortable wet spots, but this jacket covers those areas. Has a solid feel (though I tore a sleeve on jagged steel). Very good DWR finish. I'd buy it again.

Love the Trim Fit!

When I first got the Axiom jacket and tried it on, I thought that it was going to be too trim fitting to allow laying underneath. I did try to put it on over the layers I anticipated using and was surprised to see that they fit. I had a Marmoxt Gore-tex jacket that has a more relaxed fit previously and have to say that I prefer the Axiom's trim fit. It seems to keep warmth in better. In addition, it seems to breathe better than the Gore-tex Pro Shell jacket that I previously had. I would suggest trying on the jacket first to make sure it fits you. The trim fit is closer fitting than many other hardshells that I've tried on. Also the sleeves seem a bit long but this hasn't been a problem with the wrist closures cinched down.

Exactly what I was looking for!

I was looking for a simple and lightweight shell with a trim fit. I'm 6'0" and 190 lbs, and the large fits perfect. I have been poured on a few times while exercising vigorously. The Axiom kept the rain out and worked quick to dry out my sweat. I'm realistic with my expectations for Gore Tex breathability. I'm very pleased with the performance as it dried out completely after each short period of rest. Tested my normal winter layering and they all fit under the shell nicely. The Axiom will be on my short list of gear that is either in my pack or on my back.

Perfect Shell just runs a bit small

This is a great shell. I highly recommend it. Just one thing to keep in mind when ordering (especially, if online), you may want to go a size up. The shell is an athletic fit. I am 5'10 and 200lbs. I rock somewhere in between a Large and X-Large in just about everything. I ordered an X-Large and find it to fit perfect with no coat layers underneath. I recommend sizing up so bulkier layers can be added under. Just my two cents. Other than finding the appropriate size this is a perfect and comfortable shell that provides just the right amount of stretch.

Absolutely Perfect!!

I purchased this jacket to replace a heavier Gortex shell for back country trips. Haven't been able to take it there yet, but have used it multiple times locally for cooler and wet weather. The fabric is SUPER light and soft to the touch. Very comfortable in spite of being unlined. The pockets are well placed and ergonomically. One downside is no "pocket stuff sack." Not a big deal but it would have been nice. Overall, I highly recommend this jacket if you are looking for a step up in quality and comfort in a Gortex shell.

I would absolutely buy it again in my size.

I didn't use this product much. I saw that it was "Trim Fit" and it made me think of the sizing on my Cathode hoodie. I'm 6' 205 and have a large Cathode Hoodie. it is a bit tight in the armpits and lats. As a result I ordered an XL Axiom. I was very excited for it to show up. When I got it I was impressed with the quality of the seams, and the lightness. Unfortunately I was swimming in it. Even with my thickest mid layer it was too big. I would ignore the "trim fit" fears and order your normal size.
