Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helped old horse out! Ten years ago I was a competitive runner. I'd run 5 minute pace for daily runs and today I'm lucky to run 12 minute pace with a pitbull chasing me. I simply stopped running and took a job that had me eating! So starting all over again I chose these shoes in place of my once regularly used flats. I've gotta say while it's extremely hard starting all over from scratch I wouldn't make it out the door without these Hoka running shoes. They give my huge behind the cushioning I need while giving me the old old feeling of lightness my days of sub 15 minute 5k times had on my feet. I'm loving these shoes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helped with Achilles Pain First off, I've had fairly severe achilles pain for the last two years. Yes, I've done the exercises, tried keeping off it, etc... anyway, a few weeks ago I went into a running store to get my son new shoes and saw the Hoka Clifton 3s on the wall in all their cushiony glory. I tried them on and left the store a bit poorer, but holy smokes was I surprised. The back doesn't rub against my achilles and all the supportive cushioning has greatly reduced the pain, even more than I'd hoped. The pain had turned me from a runner into a jogger but now I'm back in running mode. After running nearly 40 years I can't imagine running in anything else anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best shoe I've run in... ill start by saying i returned my clifton 2 and went back to saucony rides, I'm a 11.5 and they were to big and 11was to small, the clifton 3 however are perfect, great fit both in size and width, i chuckle when i see these reviews stating not nearly wide, believe it or not there are people here with normal size feet and i think you found the perfect balance. i own 3 pairs of hokas, the clifton 3, challengers atr 3, and the ultra high wp that i use for hunting, and i must say I'm very happy with all 3. please don't do what all these other companies are doing and change great shoes dramatically for the sake of changing. keep it up

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly, love the product Returned first pair after 1 week of running (< 50 miles). The black "glued on" portion of the heal was peeling off. Customer service was great. After explaining I cannot be without the shoes too long because of an upcoming marathon, they shipped a new pair to me in a couple of days. However, after 3 runs (10 miles, 4 miles, and 10 miles) the same problem with part of the heel peeling off happened again. The shoes are very comfortable on the long runs, so I decided to let the heel peel and get what I can out of them. I bought these shoes hoping I could get at least 300 - 400 miles out of them. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feet never felt finer after a long, fast road run The Clifton might well be the Holy Grail of road shoes: cushioned but not mushy, supportive but not heavy, fast enough for speed work, forgiving enough for long-distance slogging. I had been a diehard Brooks fan for years, but found their more cushioned road shoes (e.g. Ghost) too heavy and stiff, and their lighter faster models (Launch, ST-5) to be too thinly soled for the long-haul. It was great to feel the trail underfoot, but it got tiresome as I ramped up the kms. When I started ultra training, it was clear I needed to find a new formula. So far I've put about 100km into the Cliftons, including some light trails. Delighted with them so far!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cliftons - great cushioning but size ran a bit small I had a recent knee injury that I am slowly recovering from and these shoes made it feel like I was running on an air mattress. I really loved the cushioning. However, I converted from Asics size 11.5 and the on-line shoe fitting tool recommended the same size for the Clifton's. When I first got them they seemed ok, but a little snug on my right foot. I stayed with them but after about a month developed a real problem with my big toe on my right foot. I run about 20 miles/week. My feet are about 1/2 size different so I'm debating on whether to go to the size 12 or 11.5 EE (11.5 EE aren't always available). I hope I can get them sized right because I do like the feel of the shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would not suggest I ran with the shoes for a minimum of 10 miles on the road and trails and they were just fine. But once I went out to the track and did some speed workouts, the shoes began to show some wear and the bottom soon fell apart. I only wore them on my runs so I'm very curious as why they wore out so quickly. The black rubber on the bottom of the shoes seem to be poorly glued on or my 10 miles really wore them out. It seems strange to me that such a greatly reviewed shoe could be so easily broken down. It's my first time with Hoka and I'm deeply disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Changed for the worse I train for long course triathlon and need to log a fair amount of miles. I have happily used the original Clifton and Clifton 2 models even though I only got 250 miles out of a pair. I have never had a problem with the toe box feeling narrow and just cannot get comfortable in the Clifton 3. My right foot is slightly smaller than my left and feels like it is swimming in this shoe. I cannot get it laced tightly enough so that my heel doesn't slip. That prevents me from getting a good feeling toe off and I now have some pain in my right Achilles. Never should have messed with the original - except maybe the new tongue of the Clifton 2. The search for a new shoe begins - le sigh.
