Rated 2 out of 5 by from fiddly and not very secure mounting system I'm a bike commuter, so I'm always looking for gear that makes it easy for me to bring my stuff to and from work. I have a set of Ortlieb panniers, and have been very happy with them. So she I saw this bicycle basket, I thought it would be a great way for me to bring my lunch or other gear to work. I could load it up in the morning, snap it on my rack, and when I got to work, I could detach it and carry it in with me to the office. Unfortunately, I had a lot of trouble setting up the mounting system to work on my rack, and never could get it right. I have a pretty standard rack that's actually made by Ortlieb's parent company, and according to the dimensions, it should work fine. I even measured the tube diameter of my rack, and it was within their guidelines. But even though I'm an amateur bike mechanic, I never could get it to work right. If I moved the feet too close together, they wouldn't snap shut, but if they were too far apart, the bag wouldn't be secure and would pop off with just a little force. At first, I tried with the feet pointing inwards, and that didn't work at all. Then I turned them around so that they were facing out, and got better results that way, but I still couldn't get the adjustment right between being secure enough not to pop off during my commute and being able to snap it on to the rack. After a frustrating hour, I gave up. Also, the little plastic key to disengage the feet is not very easy to use. You have to reach under the bag and push it in or pull it out to disengage. Not sure how that would work with even light full-finger gloves. The plastic key also looks a little wimpy, and I don't think it would survive daily use for very long before it broke. As much as I really wanted to like this product, it's going back to REI.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Elegant and functional design. I've taken this shopping and on some recreational bike excursions. Very easy to mount and remove. I took a tumble on trail and the basket fell off. Easy to put it back on and I since tightened the rack clamp. My old trunk bag was stolen but this is more practical for rainy Seattle.
