Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! My first down jacket and I'm already in love. Lightweight, WARM, and easily packable. I'm 5'10", 170 and M fits perfectly. Nice deep fleece lined pockets and fleece lining in the neck area of the jacket as well. Back of the jacket extends a tad below the waist to give your buns some extra protection! I've worn this with nothing but a T-shirt in freezing temperatures and had no issues. Used primarily as a walk around/city jacket - I can not attest to it's durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You won't feel like Ralphy's lil bro in this one!! The Verismo jacket is awesome! A fantastic puffy that isn's poofy!! I can move freely and look pretty athletic when I wear this thing, maybe the coat gives me superpowers, or it's just cool enough that it makes me feel like I have super powers. Really either way I am good with it! OR does a great job of putting out quality jackets. this is my third "puffy" I've purchased from OR and again I am more than pleased with my purchase!! With a thin underlayer it has kept me warm in the single digits to low teens. I am currently looking into getting a superthin lightweight shell so I can make this coat my all the time, no matter the weather coat! Thanks OR!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar do it all down jacket I love this jacket. Picked it up to replace an old, and very abused, transcendent down hoody. I like layers and this works perfectly as a three season puffy. The chest pocket and interior glove pockets are just the right size for their purpose. The fleece lined hand warmer pockets are right on - and it stuffs into a comfy pillow after a long day on the mountain. Sizing - OR sizes and I are usually on a hit or miss basis. This being a trim fit I generally size up from a medium (in the Ferrosi) to a large. This gives me enough room to put on over layers and is trim enough to act an additional heavy/mid under my hard shell. For reference - I'm 5'10, 185lbs, 42 chest, 32 waist, 33 length sleeves

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Weight and Cut I use this jacket on a daily basis; wear it to work for my weekday job, and wear it in the mountains for my weekend job. This jacket works beautifully on its own, as a light to medium base layer for my shell or under my much heavier instructor jacket (Avalanche) on the really cold days. The construction is good and while I've seen the occasional feather, nothing more than any similar jacket I've owned (it replaces a Patagonia jacket). It's also worth noting that my kids really like it (not ever said about the Patagonia) especially my teenage son - i expect he will try to "steal" it when he gets just a bit bigger :). It would be perfect with an internal stuff sack so I could stow it in my bag more easily. I'm impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Punch in Little Package The Verismo Hooded Down Jacket is a key piece in my adventure clothing kit. That said it's a go to in the early Fall and late Spring to for around town casual wear. Unlike previous OR down jackets the Verismo doesn't loose down feathers, so you keep warm and feather free. The Verismo is great for layering, fits great and for the amount of down fill it's extremely warm. It also makes a great pillow and I wrap mine around my food back to keep items chilled. If you want a light weight, packable, warm, and durable down jacket the Verismo is the one for you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jacket for Belaying or walking around town I love this jacket! It fits very well, is super light and keeps me warm. I wear it with a t-shirt and long sleeve half zip a lot for climbing or hiking and it feels great. The wind doesn't get through and is durable enough for me to belay in. I would highly recommend this jacket if you are looking for something lightweight that you will be moving in, or to put on right after climbing. It would probably even work while you are climbing, I just haven't needed a jacket on yet while doing so. NM has some pretty good climbing weather year round.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from More of an urban than backcountry jacket This product is as advertised. It's a layering piece, but not one that's really particularly useful for backcountry use. Its warmth/weight ration just doesn't compare with any other "light down" jacket out there, and really this thing can't seem to find a place in my rotation of outdoor jackets. It's great to wear to work or around town, and that's about as far as I'd go with it.

Questions & Answers

Both the description and the review of the Verismo jacket say that there is warm, fleece lining in the collar/neck. Yet this does not appear to be the case in the photos. Can you comment/verify?

Asked by: Patoo
You can see the fleece lining in the third picture on our item page. It is located around the zipper at the front of the collar where it comes into contact with your face and front of the neck when fully zipped up.

Would this jacket be the "warmth" layer for below zero winters, or is it more for layering with otherr insulations like wool and fleece?

Asked by: WololoRM
We consider this jacket to be a great mid-weight insulating layer. If temperatures drop below zero, additional layers are recommended.
