This is my favorite jacket. I have owned plenty of down and insulated jackets and this one is the best! It's light and warm, but also pretty solid looking on and off the trail. I was a little concerned that the hood did not have any adjustments, but it will contour to your head and provide so much warmth. This is definitely a jacket that I would wear in 15 degrees but maybe not lower without some layers over top to help keep the heat in. It's the perfect jacket.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] (Outdoor Research gave me this free product to try.)This layer will be great for low to moderate exertion activities in colder weather. I used this layer camping, hiking, and hanging out above tree line in temperatures in the low 40's with high gusts of wind. I would take this down hoodie with me on winter hikes, resort skiing, snowshoeing, and possibly some back country skiing. I can't wait to use this item more in my outdoor adventures! It fits true to size (5'11 and 170lbs with a medium...I'm always between a large and medium with OR tops). It is an extremely light hoodie for the amount of protection it provides. It has some stretch to it as well for when movement of upper body is required. My recommendation for what size to get if your between sizes like me, is to go with their sizing if you want it as a closer fit and to go up if you want it more loose.
I’ve only had the coat for a week or so. These questionaries should come like a month after receiving the item. Anyway, if the fit is perfect but some might find it runs small. The hood is cut perfect and seems to fit my head well. Some hoods fall too far forward or feel tight and small. Any skill level is appropriate for this jacket. I have always respected OR they always deliver a quality product at a fair price.
In my opinion, much lower quality than the older version of this jacket. For example, the loft on this version is much less, even though it has the same rating, the shell on the new one is much thinner and less durable and less waterproof than the previous version, Also the older version of this jacket had embroidery on the tag and on the logos, the new one is all iron on ….
Perfect for the versatile puffer. I have worn it as a coat for those 40-50 degree days as well as a insulated mid layer when summiting New Hampshire 4000k mountains where the wind gets the temp into the negatives. Liked the jacket so much that I got my wife and parents one as well! Probably will end up getting myself another! A must have piece in my opinion.
I've had the jacket for a month now. It's very warm(20 Degrees feels pretty good with a tshirt underneath) and the material feels nice, however I've experienced a lot of shedding with the down, especially through the seams. I know it is normal to some extent but but it seems excessive so far. If it continues I will probably reach out to CS.
I’ve been pleased with this jacket so far. I initially purchased this as a good packable option for hiking or camping, but it had already become a daily wear for me. I received this during a Minnesota winter that routinely gets to single digits or negative and it’s kept me warmer than my typical coat. Very lightweight
I have purchased 5 of these jackets over the last 15 years. The quality and features of this jacket have been consistently going the wrong way. The first versions had a vertical zip pocket outside on the chest that has disappeared on the later versions. It was really handy for a cell phone. The logo was originally embroidered on the upper arm and chest and is now some kind of plastic iron-on logo. The quality of the shell material is not near as durable as the fabric used previously. The zippers are probably of similar quality. The down insulation may be claimed to be the same but does not live up to prior versions of this jacket. I would encourage those who are considering this jacket to take a look at it in person and compare it to other brands before purchasing. I understand there is a fine line between cutting features in an effort to maintain the price point but it appears, at least in the case of this garment, the quality has suffered and the price continues to increase.
Very nice jacket with good loft to weight ratio. I’m 6’, 165 lbs, with a 43” chest and sizing chart indicated size large. The fit is right on the money. Construction and material appear to be durable. I were recommend purchasing this jacket for outdoor and/or around town wear.
With a very soft outer finish, this jacket is extremely comfortable and warm. I am a big fan of down jackets and this one checks all the boxes. Light weight, high warmth to weight ratio, great design. This is a great option from extreme cold layering, to everyday wear.
