Most Versatile Cooler Ever!

I have had this for about 2 weeks and took it to my family reunion. After a 6 hour drive in the back of my van on a 100 degree day the ice packs were not even slightly melted. The portability of it will make you want to smuggly smile while everyone wrestles with their heavy traditional chest style coolers. I really sweated the decision between this and a Yeti cooler. The main reasons I can think of why you would need a yeti over this are if you are a hunter, fisherman, partier or large group car camper. I'm mainly a rock climbing/kayaking day tripper or backpacker. In other words, I never need a place to store a dead animal or 64 beers for 4 days. And if you do need those things this is still great for excursions away from basecamp. I'm really impressed with this cooler and definitely recommend it.

Keeps things cold BUT significant quality issues

I've use this product weekly for 8 months, taking my drinks etc to stand up paddle board (SUP) on the lakes of AZ. It's hot here but the cooler keeps everything nice and cold. I like that it floats (tested on a river). My contents stayed dry. My issue is the premature de-lamination. Friends have the same product and have owned it 3x longer without issue so I'm hoping this is a one-off issue in quality control. I plan to return and get the same thing.

Ranger review Icemule Pro Cooler

First and foremost I have to say upon receiving this thing I was shocked at the size. It is definitely extra large. My 7 year old would not be packing this thing around but Icemule has several size options so no real issue there. I chose the xl specifically to use while kayaking on this trip. I would be providing food and drink for up to 8 separate people and would be on the water for  long periods of time. I currently own a Yeti and Wally World Rotomold but cant use them due to their size on our boat.  Well this is where it gets good. I loaded all three coolers and set out with my Icemule in tow. I left the two hard coolers with family at the pavilion. Similar contents and each cooler received 1 bag of ice in the morning. The Icemule stood stride for stride with the yeti in fact I will attach photos to prove it.  The Icemule form fit itself into the storage space on my kayak and at the end of the day had just a little ice left. The Yeti had a little more ice but nothing significant. I will also note that the Icemule was in the open sun on the back of a kayak in 90 degree temps. I was ecstatic with the result. This thing is amazing.  Now for the nitty gritty. My Icemule comes in several colors. I chose black as it matched my yak LOL. I can say the 24 can capacity is definitely modest but I wouldn't recommend exceeding it by much as all that weight adds up. Not heeding my own advice I topped this thing off and really put it and my back through the ringer. All the stitching and seam weld held up very well. Not a single issue even when over loaded. All clips and straps are high quality and very durable. All in all I made room for 6 different coolers in my garage as they will all be resting comfortably there. The Icemule is now our families go to for all our cooler needs.

1 yr Review & no long term quality...

So we have had our IceMule for a year & initially we loved it so much we actually bought a 2nd smaller one for shorter trips. Our IceMule is used for 3mos of beach trips, and long distance car trips the remainder of the year. Aspects that we loved was that it kept items cold, could be stashed behind the drivers seat, wasn't so bulky or heavy that it needed wheels (unlike a hard sided cooler), what's not to like? Well as others have mentioned, the lack of quality is showing up & first we noticed it at the straps. O.K. no biggie right? Well next was the top seam separating from the liner and So if you are a "buy a $100+ cooler every year person, go ahead & purchase. We prefer that our coolers last longer than a year with intermittent use.

This is a fantastic cooler/backpack!

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time and this time, I got to use the IceMule Pro Large Cooler. This trip will be a little different than a bunch of other reviewers as I took it to the snow instead of somewhere warm. Before heading out, we packed up food, drinks, etc.into the IceMule and poured ice all over the top. We then got on the road and drove out to Tahoe were the temperature that day was barely over 30 degrees… Despite there being tons of traffic, snow and it taking almost double the standard driving time, when we got out to the lodge several hours later and opened the top, the ice was still there and the drinks and food were freezing cold. The main advantage besides keeping the refreshments ice cold, was that the backpack was super comfortable to wear. The straps are super padded, along with some padding where is rests against the back. This was great since there aren’t any elevators in the lodge we stayed at and I had to care this thing up 4 flights of stairs. Who in their right mind wants to do that with a standard cooler?!?! The portability of it will make you smile while everyone else wrestles with their heavy traditional chest style coolers up that many stairs. We left the ice and the food in the cooler the entire weekend and I’m happy to report that even after the drive back to San Francisco, there was still tons of ice left. I realize this isn’t a “fair” testing, but I was really impressed. I also have several other Yeti coolers. Where they each have the best uses. I think you would need a Yeti over this are if you are using it on a hunting, fishing, large parties or large group car camping trips. While this is best for rock climbing, kayaking, paddboarding, day trips, everyday activities like beach trips, dog park, tailgating, or your local outdoor concerts. It’s the perfect cooler for your next adventure & it even doubles as a dry bag! I totally recommend this cooler to anyone wanting to reward a long hike, boat, or camp with freezing cold treats.

Great for Family Advenures

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time. At Box Bar, I got to use the IceMule Pro Large Cooler. Before heading out, we packed up sodas, juice boxes, apples, and a tupperware of cookies into the IceMule and poured ice all over the top. The temperature that day was over 100 degrees, but when we got to the campsite and opened the top, the ice was still there and the drinks and food were freezing cold. Never had such a refreshing soda! I’m used to having to drink a warm soda or water while adventuing, so this was quite the treat. Besides keeping the refreshments ice cold, the backpack was also super comfortable to wear. The straps are super padded, as well as the bag where is rests against the back. I am a super weak person and it was easy and fun to wear. I totally recommend this cooler to anyone wanting to reward a long hike, boat, or camp with freezing cold treats.

Best way for hauling a cooler.

I think this is one of the best purchases I have made in recent years. I have used it many times, but I really enjoy using it while we are on our vacations in Hawaii. We like to hike into remote beaches and this Icemule allows me to haul a big load in it without any issues. I fill it full of beer, water, mai tais and lunch fixings, throw a big bag of bagged ice in there and head off to wherever the trail leads us. I would very much recommend this cooler, I also have used it for local outdoor concerts and it makes hauling ice so easy for the wine you will be chilling.

Backpack Cooler that Actually Works

My wife and I live in Alabama and do many short 1-2 night trips throughout the spring and summer so having a smaller cooler that is easy to transport is vital. I took the IceMule Pro out for a test run this past weekend while visiting the Horse Pens 40 Campground and loaded it up with all our food and a couple of ice packs for the weekend. Although we weren't in the heat of the summer it was still a warm weekend and we had several perishable items such as mayo and cheese that we wanted to bring along. Loading up the cooler at home was a breeze since the flexible shape lets you easily squeeze everything in then you just fold the top closed down to the top item. I added some air using the valve on the side and popped it in the car next to our tent and climbing gear. We opened and closed the cooler all weekend while cooking and it was so easy to carry from the car to the site. When we got home on Sunday afternoon all of the ice packs were still mostly frozen and the food had stayed cold. Overall, I would highly recommend this cooler to anyone who needs an easy weekend option with great transportability. Highlights -Super easy to load up and fit in your car -Backpack is comfortable and is a huge plus over hard sided coolers -Stays cold for a long weekend and flexibility to add or remove air from walls -Material is incredibly durable and should stand up to years of use Negatives -Still too heavy for anything like a backpacking trip where weight is a concern -Can be difficult to get to items at the bottom so load it in order of use As a note I received this item to test as a Ranger for the Dyrt

Don't Want To Sound Too Dramatic

But this is seriously the best cooler I've ever owned. I needed something that was high-quality, easy-to-use and obviously, kept things cold. The IceMule does all of these things and then some. It's super well made and keeps things cold for at least 2 days straight. My favorite thing about it, is that I can roll it up when I'm not using it or use it as a dry bag when travelling. Seriously, if you're on the fence about this thing, get it. It rocks and is a worthy $100 gear investment.
