Water resistant

Didn't have any issues with the zipper, but I wouldn't call this waterproof. I've had it for a while but on every occasion when it's actually rained while hiking I've ended up wet. If it's just misting or drizzling, or you're just out for a walk and will be home soon, it's fine. I do like the attachments at the cuffs for keeping everybody where they belong, and the pockets are handy.

Terrible front zipper

All the zippers are fine-gauge water-resistant nylon - except the front zipper. It was defective right out of the package. I fiddled with it, unsuccessfully, for a while before I realized I would not have that kind of patience in a downpour. Too bad, because otherwise the design seems excellent with pit zips, an adjustable hood and good coverage.

Faulty installation of the zipper

The zipper was installed incorrectly, so that EVERY time you unzip the coat, it gets caught in the fabric of the coat. I think this may only be an issue on the coat I received, but it is very irritating when riding a bike and trying to unzip on the fly. I will be returning the coat.

Zipper broke twice

I loved this jacket as a hardshell, except for the fact the zipper kept getting stuck. Then finally before a hike in a blizzard, the zipper broke clean off. I exchanged it for the same jacket, and a month later, the zipper broke again. I returned it for a different brand.

Zipper faulty

Love the color and was looking for a bright orange waterproof jacket of good quality. However this jacket’s zipper is faulty. The fabric is sewn too close to the zipper teeth and jams the zipper when you try to zip it up when on you body. Had to send it back.

Pretty in the wilderness

Purchased jacket in May 2016, very pleased with the color. The weather was warm in May didn't wear jacket much, thought it would be better when weather turned cold, well we are in our last eight weeks of summer in Alaska I have worn this jacket on the river in winds I was cold had to heavy layer! Worn this jacket in temps of 60's in heavy rains couldn't wear alone with light layers it did not keep out the cold from Alaska rain, I put on heavier layers it sweat and was not protecting from the cold wind.

zipper no go

I love Marmot stuff but this coat just doesn't hold up to the standard I've experienced in the past. It's a lighter-weight than I expected but I did like the fit and I trust the brand so I gave it a go. I ski hard, every weekend. On a super cold day (one month after purchasing), I tried to zip up the top portion of the zipper while skiing and the entire thing popped off. Marmot promptly repaired it. I was impressed with the customer service. But...it happened again, one month later! Again, super cold conditions while skiing: trying to zip up last bit over my chin. Something's amiss with the zipper and frigid conditions....it seems to be brittle. I'll continue to support Marmot but this coat was a total bust for me.

A well tailored rain jacket

A great quality and good looking jacket! Just a little too slim. It is my second time to purchase it b/c I lost the first one on a car ride recently. I normally wear size medium. But this one is too snug. Sadly I will have to return it.

Great Rain Jacket

Awesome jacket on my trip to Alaska in early September. It rained and drizzled and was chilly. The jacket is light, keeps the rain out and the pit zips helped keep me from overheating on hikes. The hood stayed put when I pulled it up. Love this jacket.

So sweaty and damp

I have to say I'm disappointed in this jacket. Part of my reason for buying it was the high breathability rating but I get so much condensation inside. The waterproofing is great, but it gets so damp inside that I end up being freezing cold and wet from my own sweat and condensation. Even with the pit zips open. And don't open the pit zips too much, because you'll end up getting rain/snow inside the jacket.
