I bought this jacket several years ago to replace a rain jacket I had been wearing for years. The jacket fits well, I can wear a fleece under the jacket comfortably. There are zippered vents under the arms, the hood fits well and the pockets are large enough. I took good care of this jacket, when I was working around the yard I wore my old rainsuit. The problem with this jacket is the lining, it didn't hold up well. It deteriorated
I loved the rainproof-ness, strong zippers, fit and look of the jacket but after about 3 years the lining began to rub off and leave crumbs and dust on my clothes, soon after the lining gave out so did the waterproofness. This was used more for daily use and cycling, could be great and last 5+ years with less frequent use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a rain jacket and thought this was a good buy for the sale price. I can't attest to the water resistance yet, but thought I'd throw some pics on for gals looking for insight on what size to order (I scoured the reviews for this because the sizing can be wonky). For ref, I'm 5'3" 170 lbs, 35" waist, 41" hips, 38 DD, and I ordered an XXL. I'm wearing a cropped lightweight hoodie under the jacket and leggings in the pics.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loving this new light yet waterproof jacket for bike rides. Replacing an old jacket with a sweet upgrade! I love the sinch cord around the bottom hem. Only thing I'd suggest is maybe a little more form fitting on the hood, it's pretty big and floppy but would still rate this a 5/5. I got the "Copper" colored one so that I'd be better seen at night while riding my bike. Love the color!
I have bought this jacket twice, both XL in Wild Rose. I have lived the color, the fit, the pit zips, and the draw cords on the hood. It is fully waterproof. HOWEVER, within two years of owning, the inner waterproof lining begins to peel and flake out of the jacket, especially around the cuffs and seams. Once the peeling starts it does not stop, leaving bits of white lining all over, and causing the places the lining has fallen out to no longer be waterproof. I thought it might be a fluke with the first jacket, but the exact same happened with the second jacket I purchased as well. For a cheaper jacket, I probably wouldn’t mind, but for the price of the jacket, I expected it to last longer.
I’m preparing for a trip that may include a bit of summer rain. I’ve had a couple Marmot jackets in the past so it seems like a good choice to add another. This Precip has an attractive two-tone color scheme. I ordered a small because while my chest area is between XS/S, my lower half is more of a S/M. I tend to buy small for this reason. Unlike several other jackets I’ve tried, this one runs more snug around the hips. Beyond that it seemed like a decent jacket until I tried to zip it up. My hands are already petite but the zipper was difficult to continuously grab. Did Marmot go cheap because it’s awful? If it were raining and cold there is no way I’d be able to hold onto this zipper. Not only is it small, it lacks the extra little loop that extends to length and texture you can grab. It would never occur to me that such a little detail would cause such a problem. This jacket is going back.
The PreCip Eco Rain Jacket is a standout piece of hiking gear. It packs neatly into its own pocket, taking up almost no space in a backpack—perfect for trips where every ounce and inch count. On the trail, the jacket handled changing conditions with ease. At the summit, steady rain rolled in and the jacket kept everything dry when worn on its own. As temperatures dropped, it easily layered over a fleece without feeling bulky. When activity picked up and things warmed up, the pit zips offered excellent breathability and kept the hike comfortable. Pros: Packs down into its own pocket (minimal space required) Lightweight yet sturdy Excellent quality construction Breathable with pit zips for ventilation Final Verdict: A dependable, versatile rain jacket that delivers in both comfort and performance. 10/10 – highly recommend adding this to your hiking, or your everyday, essentials. For reference, I purchased a size Large. TTS or size up, if you want a looser fit.
Color is as I had hoped. Silvery gray. Very nice for Spring. Fits very well and as expected. It's winter here so I have not worn it at all yet.
I bought this to replace the previous iteration (the non-eco version) of this jacket (which was *perfect* but I left it somewhere). I purchased the XXL size. I have broad shoulders and an ample bosom, so I typically have a hard time finding a jacket that fits. This jacket does zip, but is tighter than my previous jacket in the bust and shoulders, and the pockets are smaller. It’ll do, but I don’t have a ton of room under it for layers. I wish that it had a little more breathing room and the slightly larger pockets. That being said, I haven’t found a lot of other options in my size that won’t leak at the seams within minutes of being out in the rain.
The jacket feels very nice, not as flimsy or plasticky as many others in this price range. I loved the color (I got the orange) and think the jacket looks sporty but also smart enough to wear for rainy days in the city. Unfortunately, the jacket is too fitted for a rain jacket. I'm 160cm and approx 58kgs and ordered an M. It fits more the way I would expect a suit jacket to fit. There was no room in the jacket for layers and it was too tight in the chest and shoulders to offer full mobility. If you want a loser cut either for layering or if you have a full chest or broad shoulders or wide hips I would definitely size up.
