Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Boot EVER If you are into serious rugged trails that include slippery rocks, loose jagged terrain and prefer a sturdy ankle boot over a trail runner type shoe, this is the one for you. I wore these with minimal breakin time on the toughest back country hike I've ever done - and NO blisters. The boot is light weight, comfortable and provides superior protection over jagged terrain and grips steep, slick boulders without sliding or slipping. The fit tends to be a bit narrow and small so I needed the wide, half size bigger version. I wore the boot all day in high temps splashing thru creeks without having sore hot, wet feet at the end of the day. The zero breakin time without blisters is amazing. This is a 6 STAR (out of 5). They are worth waiting for if not in stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing boot - comfortable and sturdy! I covered 25 miles over 3 days with a 40 pound pack in the Tetons in these boots. My feet definitely hurt at the end of each day, but I think that can probably be attributed to having a heavy pack. I wore two pairs of socks and did not get a single blister. They're sturdy and offer great ankle support on rocky terrain with a heavy pack. The front of the boot also offers great protection if you're clumsy and stub your toes regularly like me. Plus, these boots are CLASSIC and look legit. The one thing I did learn in my boot buying experience is that you can read a million reviews online, but the most important thing is to actually go into the store and find a boot that fits YOUR foot. I have very narrow feet and I found that with almost every pair of boots I tried, my feet would slide forward and hit the end of the boot, even if I got a larger size. If I tied them tight enough to keep my foot from sliding forward, the laces would cut off my circulation and I would lose feeling in my feet. I'm pretty sure I spent 2 hours trying on every single pair of boots at REI before finally finding these (pro tip: beware of blisters from lacing boots over and over again. I got blisters on the forefingers and pinkies of both of my hands!). Something about the way the top of the boot sort of slants just worked with the shape of my feet. And thank goodness for that! I'll definitely be depending on these boots to take me on many more backcountry camping trips in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So pretty, but too narrow I so wanted these boots to work - durable and just plain pretty (sorry if that makes me sound dumb, but look at them!). However, after a half an hour wearing them around the house, my two little toes were numb. I returned them to the store and an associate in the shoe department remeasured my foot noting that it was just a smidgen above medium. From what I hear Vasque run a bit narrow, so this makes sense that these boots were not meant to be. If I had more narrow feet, I'm sure this would be a five star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless and sturdy I bought this model or its equivalent in 1992 and wore them nearly every day when I studied in Ireland and walked both city streets and country fields and then some. I was thrilled to see that they were still being made! I still have these boots and they have held up beautifully. I would definitely buy this model again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I Thought These Fit Well In The Store After about 8 hikes with these boots, I just had to return them. I have a skinny heel and was getting chewed up going uphill. I tried them on in the store where they seemed to fit just fine, I brought in my sock liners and wool socks too. I really wanted a sturdy boot for backpacking in the PNW, so something that could handle wet as well as dry granite. I needed a good grippy sole, which these definitely had. I think if you have a wider heel than me, these boots would be fine and very durable. My mom had a pair of these for 20 years and they were so solid for her, I figured they would work well for me, but I just couldn't get these to work for me. I ended up exchanging these for a set of La Sportivas which are much snugger in the heel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for everything I love these shoes. I wore them every day for a month while hiking in the Middle East and at the end of the month they looked brand new. They are definitely waterproof even when walking though a shallow lake as long as they don't go above the top of the shoe. They are also comfortable for casual day walks such as Disneyland. They are perfect for everything and I love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit for adventure These boots are perfect for long backpacking trips or short day hikes. My feet have never been uncomfortable while wearing these, and the water proof has been solid. They have held up really well and still look new after wearing them on many adventures. The colors are awesome too!

The Skywalk Mid GTX Hiking Boots can certainly be used in snow, however, they are not insulated and have no specific temperature rating.

Would these boots be ok for very hot temperatures? Also, any size recommendations? I wear size 9.5-10 and curious if I should size up?

Asked by: Linds717
This boot has a Goretex breathable membrane to release moisture, but you may want to find a mesh hiking boot if your activities will be tropical conditions. Also, this boot is slightly narrow and many customers found they fit a half size smaller than their usual shoe size.
