Sizing notes

Inseam varies depending on style. Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wets out fast I wore this over a t-shirt in a heavy rainstorm in the White mountains. The dwr was overwhelmed in about 5 minutes. The fabric, which is soft and flexible and comfy when dry, stuck to my sweaty skin like plastic wrap. At that point I had the strange experience of knowing the rain wasn't touching skin, but still feeling completely soaked, and more importantly, losing body heat as if I wasn't wearing a rain jacket at all. This jacket is great around town or over a long-sleeve layer in cooler temps. For summer hiking (which I thought was going to be it's strong suit) I will think twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super light, super repellent I've only had this a few weeks, but so far all good. Impervious to drizzle and harder rain, with no through wetting. Hood adjust well. Fits well over a puffy to cut the wind when below freezing. cuffs velcro nice and tight. Could be little bit longer to cover more of the hip area, but this is really a rain shell and not complete protection. Pockets zip well, size seems a little small, but guess this is how you save weight. All in all appropriate compromises and good for active wet and windy weather outdoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps the rain off Great lightweight jacket. Kept the rain off with vent zippers that allowed for circulation to keep you from overheating. Nice soft exterior not crinkley and stiff. Hands down awesome purchase

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia Stretch Rainshadow In line with many of the other reviews the sizing is definitely not normal for this jacket. I am 6ft 180lbs wear 42 regular suit jacket, so I'd say my shoulder width is pretty average. The Small fits me perfectly. When I say perfect I mean a somewhat form fitting athletic fit but still enough room to wear my fleece jacket underneath it. I will be putting this jacket to the test in Peru next week for 20 days Trekking Salkantay and Ausangate and will update my review.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and bad I like the price, light weight, stretchy fabric, and look and drape of this jacket. The light weight is a boon for travel and minimizing weight when I back pack. Unfortunately, the jacket does not perform that well. It wets out fast in rain. Regardless whether it has wet out, the sleeves cling to my arms, and the jacket overall does not feel adequately breathable,

Is it really waterproof?  Will it keep you dry in a down pour when out for hours?

Asked by: brucelee1968
Even if this material was perfectly waterproof, which it isn't, you would still get wet due to the condensation of vapor inside of the jacket. Even with venting. With WP/B fabrics you get a balance between waterproofing and air permeability. No it's not waterproof, but this is a very good material that will not wet out quickly, provides great range of motion, and is has ventilation options to deter condensation.

I like my soft shells to pull double duty for spring skiing conditions. How well does this jacket pull that off? The pit zips are a huge plus!

Asked by: NHDave26
This is an excellent choice for a jacket that is lightweight, packable, does not take away any range of motion, and will keep you dry during spring skiing.

What is the difference between this and the Stretch Rainshadow Jacket - Men's ( in the REI Garage? That is "on sale" from $229 to $159, but it's listed here for $199.

Asked by: Fels
The difference between these two Patagonia Jackets is the color selection.

Is it appropriate to hot weather hiking?

Asked by: Jose Guilherme
This is an un-insulated waterproof shell. It is appropriate for hot weather hiking if you might need rain protection.
