Very good quality
Got these shoes to help keep my feet warm and dry in Ohio weather and they do just that. I read reviews about ordering a half size down. I typically get 8.5 so I ordered an 8 and they fit perfectly. I don’t usually wear very thick socks though so if you tend to wear thick socks, your normal size should be fine. I’ve been wearing them for a couple of weeks now and don’t have any issues with them. When I first got them the backs were a little stiff and I could feel it around my Achilles’ tendon but now that I’ve worn them more I don’t have this issue any longer. Absolutely love them and would recommend them to anyone.
Rip in both boots
I bought these boots Dec. 19th, 2019, There are rips in both boots as shown in the pictures I am very disappointed. I was hoping to get a few more years out of them before having to replace them.
No warmth, no comfort
These boots do not perform in any sense of the word for winter use. First, and most importantly, there is positively no warmth to this boot. I can feel the cold concrete through the bottom of the boot. The rubber upper, meant to provide waterproof protection, literally freezes in the cold. So your entire foot is surrounded by cold. From an insulation standpoint, I truly don't think these boots would be warm enough for anything below 40 degrees. Now, as for comfort, there just isn't any. There's nothing even resembling a footbed inside. Just hard, flat, smashed lining that is no more comfortable that walking barefoot on solid concrete. The only thing good I can say about the Winter Carnival boots are that they are waterproof. But that's what rain boots are for. These provide no more warmth or insulation that a typical, unlined rubber rain boot.
Worst boot in existence. Do not buy.
I've had these for a year now and I have genuinely tried multiple times to love them. I generally like Sorel but these somehow slipped through the quality inspection. I cannot wear these boots without getting a blister on the back of my ankle. In the photo of the boot you can see the heel/backside slants inwards - that will dig into your skin. My husband also has a pair and has the same experience. I originally bought these for warmth, I live in Minnesota but still like to walk through snow and cold temps. We just returned from a walk and my toes are so cold they hurt, and I have new blisters on the ankles. These are officially going in the donate bin.
Do Not Buy
I first bought these in a size 10 since 9.5 were sold out. They were way too big so I returned them and got them in a 9.5. It turns out the size of the boot was not really the issue... the issue was the general fit of the boot. The bottom is made very sturdy, and then the part of the boot above the base (going up your calf) is very thin. Therefore the rubber base of the boot cuts into your heel when you walk. They are also very bulky and awkward to walk in. I must say they were very warm, but in my opinion not worth the money if they are not comfortable. I really wanted them to work out since they looked so cute online, but the fit is just too uncomfortable.
Love these boots!
After six New York winters I finally bit the bullet and bought snow boots, and of course it's the warmest winter ever. Ha! However, I love my winter carnivals. They look super cute on and kept my feet incredibly warm and dry in the one (1) snowstorm we've had in NYC this year... I initially sized down half a size after reading the reviews but the 7.5 was a little snug, even wearing light socks. A little frustrating but I exchanged for an 8 (which is my usual size) and they fit perfectly. I don't have any issues with rubbing on the ankle like some other reviewers. I find these are so warm and the liner is nice and thick, so regular socks work totally fine. Love!
Warm & toasty boat shoes
For the past years, my toes were always frozen by the time I get to work. Finally, I splurged on buying a pair of real winter boots and chose Sorel because of its reputation. Very warm and toasty indeed. However, they are a little big-looking. I'm a little self-conscious wearing them as I am very petite and it's so easy for me to look overwhelmed. It feels like I'm wearing moon shoes at times. Also, there is absolutely no traction in the soles so when you walk on ice, good luck! You will fall on your butt unless you TREAD VERY, VERY CAREFULLY. But I'm keeping it for now and will research on other kinds of Sorel boots if this ends up busting in the years to come.
Warm boot
The pros: They do keep your feet warm and are pretty comfortable (other than the con below). I bought these last fall and have not experienced what others have been saying about the boot digging into my ankles. I rarely wear short socks with these though so that may make a difference? The cons: They are very heavy and almost a little difficult to walk in because of that fact. I bought an 8 (normally between a 7.5-8 depending on the shoe) and they do fit fine with normal thickness socks on. They are snuck if I put on thicker socks. Although I do like these boots and will not be getting rid of them, I will be trying to find something lighter for regular use in the winter
First Pair
This is my first pair of Sorel boots. It hasn't snowed yet, where I live, but I have been wearing them around the house all day. I rely very heavily on reviews when making purchases. So far, I am finding no discomfort in the heel/ankle of the boot, like some have reviewed. Also, I did get a whole size smaller than what I normally wear, which wasn't a big deal for me since I bought them at a sporting goods store, so I was able to try multiple sizes on. So far, they are very warm and comfortable. They are a bit clunky, but they are a winter boot, should be expected. I can't wait to see how the hold up in the snow! Very happy so far and hope to get more styles in the future!
Great Snow Boot
I bought this pair of boots after my feet froze when I went sledding without good snow boots. They are true to size, despite other websites saying they run big. They are very warm. They can be clunky to walk in, but they are very stylish and warm.
