I bought this 6 months ago and I haven't had any issues with this product. I looked at all the reviews before I picked this up and I thought I was taking a chance with this purchase. I was dead wrong all of the negative reviews are way off with the leaking issues. The first thing I did when I got this was turn it upside down to see if it leaked. It did not leak a drop even after shaking it for a few minutes. I just figured it was new and I would have issues but I still don't have any. This cap seals tightly and the only complaint I can see would be someone complaining that the valve can be hard to open.

Poorly designed with major flaw

We bought 3 of these to four our 3 children so they would have an easier time drinking and hopefully not spill. The product looks like it should do the job and for the most part it does except for one design flaw. There is a little valve that you can't see in the product photo hidden behind the plastic loop. This valve lets air pass through while you are drinking, however the tiny silicone stopper can come out pretty easily. Especially if you have a curious 5 or 8 year old that touches it with their finger. The plug then comes out and due to the design is physically impossible to get back in. Therefore you are left with a leaking flask. The stopper is about a 1/4" in size with a 1/2mm pin hole you need to pass it through. And you have to try to shove it in 1.25" cylinder which is impossible. I tried repairing it with tweezers but couldn't even reach the other end. Don't purchase for kids and there is risk for adults. Once the plug comes out the flask will leak.

Nice, but no luck!

I purchased my cap at Our local sporting goods store, and the cap drips water out of it. Found out after my son’s book bag came home wet. I went ahead and secured the lid, sealed the cap, and held it upside down and it was confirmed - there was a good leak coming out of the top of cap (small vent at top of cap, not from spout). I contacted Hydroflask, and they were great to send me a replacement cap, but unfortunately experienced the same. This time the drip was from the spout. Not sure if it’s just our luck with two different caps and two different leaks, however I just did notice that the packaging does say ‘not leakproof’. Looks like most recent reviewers are not reporting leaks here, so maybe it’s been corrected. Unfortunate, because would love my son to have a spout for school instead of the screw on/off lid. I can anticipate the accidental spills in the classroom.

The first time I got it I washed it very well and it carried a very nasty taste for a while. But after washing it a lot my experience with the lid got better and better. 100% recommend!!

It's ok.

My hot beverage stays hot, even when the spout is open for at least a few hours. I've been sipping on a bottle full of coffee for the last couple hours, and it's still hot (this is my first use). What I don't like about the sport cap is that you have to be careful not to tip the bottle back quickly, as the air vent is right next to the spout (to allow liquid to flow out). Tipping it back too quickly will cause you to spill on yourself. I don't know why they didn't put the air vent on the opposite side of the nozzle. You may still spill on yourself, but at least that's further away from where you tip back your liquid. I think I'm going to return it, and see if they have one with a straw.

SO much better than a screw top!

I LOVE this. Our hydroflask was getting very little use until we added the sport cap. No problems with the plastic thing coming out of the air valve. It looks to be in there pretty solidly. Also - should ANYTHING happen with this (we had one that started leaking after a few weeks out the mouthpiece) you can request a new one through Hydroflask as its covered under warranty. Awesome customer service to boot!

No issues whatsoever!

I had been on the fence about this lid for at least a few months, and finally decided to take a chance with it when I needed it for a two-month long road trip. This thing was a must have for driving! You do have to add a bit of suction to get a good flow going, and it isn't totally silent. The noise hasn't bothered me one bit, and no one has commented on it. For the few people complaining about having to use their teeth to get a grip on the spout- who cares! You're going to be drinking from it anyways! Two months of daily use and no permanent marks on it. No leaking, either. Easy to clean and no smells. I should note that I only use my bottle for water, so I can't speak for smelly drinks.

Worse accessory ever

This cap had me excited when I found it. It would allow for a quick drink while working out without having to unscrew a cap. Well it was a waste of money. I bought two thinking my first was defective. It leaks whenever not upright and makes this annoying wheezing sound as you suck water from it. Both caps did it. Guess I should’ve read other reviews first. I expected more from this company. The bottle itself is amazing. The cap is a waste of material. Additionally, they need to make something that keeps the mouthpiece completely covered. All the germs in the air- I hate drinking from this because I don’t have a cap to cover the mouthpiece

Good for some activities

I've had absolutely no issues with this cap leaking, as some past reviewers noted. I've used it with piping-hot tea and ice-cold water, and had no leaking for either temperature range. Generally, it works as intended. However, the loop hits my nose as the bottle contents start to get low, causing me to need to tilt my head back more than I like to. And while the lid is fine for some activities, it needs a cover for the mouth piece for others. This is a hard one - the rigid loop is good for being able to clip it with a carabiner, and not all activities would cause the mouth piece to get dirty. Most of the time I end up just taking the lid off.

leaks everywhere!

I love the feel of this one over the Klean Kanteen sipper with it's larger loop. It's easier to carry. BUT this style leaks terribly. It's very hard to get it completely closed so every time my children's water bottles lay down in a bag or in the car they spill everywhere. Also, the little silicone air valve falls out at the slightest touch. :( I really wish they would fix these two things. Thankfully the waterbottle sport tops easily fit other brands.
