It's a good start

I purchased this kit when they still had the Sub7 hammock in it. It was my first camping hammock and was purchased for myself while I purchased the larger/heavier Link System for the girlfriend. I am 6ft tall and weigh about 175 pounds. My first impression was good. Eno is obviously a recognizable name and I was not disappointed in the build quality nor did I have any missing items. I first set it up in the yard in order to practice and work out the kinks. It really is one of the easiest things I have put together out of a package. Instructions are clear and the product is easy to use. I recommend also reading "The Ultimate Hang" or visiting the website to learn more about how to hang, site selection, and how to lay in your hammock. Most issues can be solved with that information. I next did a hike with this whole kit. Total was 3 days, 2 nights, and about 24 miles in February near Grandfather Mountain in Western North Carolina. It was cold, windy, rainy, and tiring. Used with an Arrowhead Equipment underquilt and some warming layers, I was able to sleep comfortably in this hammock the entire time. I did have some small issues with my feet popping out of the hammock while I slept. I did, however, have zero issues with my gear or hammock getting wet under this tarp. The following hike I did with this setup was 3 days, 2 nights, 34 miles in July in Smoky Mountains National Park. Weather was nice most of the trip and I almost didn't need the tarp. I also did a 23 mile, two night hike in Uwharrie National Forest in January. Again, had zero issues and slept really well. I did have some issue with the bug net. It fits really tight around the hammock, and with an underquilt, it compresses the filling some, kind of defeating the point of the underquilt. It is also a pain in the butt to get in and out of in the middle of the night. All in all, this is a great place to start if you don't know what to look for or if you are overwhelmed with the choices with hammock camping. There are better, lighter, ad more comfortable options, but many of them are also much more expensive and there are very few options that come as an all-in-one kit, ready to go out of the box. Couple this with the outstanding service and return policy from REI, and you can't really go wrong. I recommend getting some "Y" shaped tent stakes in lieu of the Ti ones the kit comes with if you plan on using it in softer soil. I also made a tarp snake out of a loofa from the dollar store. It helped packing up on the trail that much easier and faster. I also recommend adding some light shock cord to the stakes as this tarp material will stretch slightly overnight and the shock cord helps keep it taught. I will try to add more photos once I can find them.

Hahahah

Bought this and retuned it immediately. The hammock the straps and the tarp all work like magic but the guardian net is complete garbage. It’s like eno made the net and didn’t even bother trying it out first. The hooks for the ridge line are designed for carabiners which the sub6 does not have and it is impossible to fasten the net whilst inside unless your arms are longer than your legs. Also the cord locks that come with the whole system are fragile and impossible to use. I really wanted to like this because of the colour and weight but save yourself some time and don’t buy this. Really expected more from eno. Lucky I was able to return it.

Sometimes less is more

These Eno hammocks especially the Sub7 and its kit of accessories are amazing. I had never used hammocks camping before, but after a few nights in my Sub7 I am a believer. Make sure you have a pad or an underquilt because your backside will get cold through the nylon without it. AWESOME!!!

Better than a tent

Excellent system. Light weight, easy set up, easy to pack up, and comfortable. I used it on a 16 mile one nighter, my girlfriend and I double bunked with it and it did great!

light and functional but uncomfortable.

used this for a week hiking through Glacier National Park. Easy to set up, take down and pack but not a comfortable place to sleep. The significant hammock curve means you and everything with you says to the center.

great set-up!

I actually bought everything separately, so I ended up getting the New 2019 SL bug-net, that one has a horizontal side zipper that makes getting in and out easy. I recommend you do the same.
