Best jacket I’ve ever had. My closet has jackets and coats ranging from Canada goose to Northface. I have tried several different types of jackets throughout the years. I have learned that I dislike thicker coats because of how uncomfortable it is to sit in the car with the coat on. This jacket offers good insulation and wind protection while keeping a minimalist form. I’ve worn it progressively throughout the year and winter and my only regret was buying it too small. I like this track it so much. I gave it to my son and I’m buying another one in the next size up. I would definitely recommend this brand for their quality and then engineering.
I bought the Spyfire in November 2023 (now January 2025). Probably the favorite winter coat that I’ve ever owned. It’s performed particularly well during the recent cold snap and snow in the mid-Atlantic. When hiking in the 20s and 30s with wind, I pretty quickly shed every layer but my t-shirt and the Spyfire. I’ve owned colder-weather coats, but they were much (much) bulkier, much more expensive, and for a specific technical purpose. The Spyfire is an excellent, daily winter coat with superior design, comfort, and value (especially if you appreciate lots of pockets).
I have owned 3 spitfires. Warmth good. Style excellent. HOWEVER don’t recommend hiking in it. They tear easily. Thus I’m about to buy my fourth. Love kuhl. Sizing: A hair on the small side
I purchased this as my about town/walk the dog jacket as it's always cold in San Francisco, as well as for cold weather camping and hiking. Cozy from the moment you put it on, with lots of pockets and a hood that doesn't get in the way whether it's off your head or on it. Destined to become my second "grab and go" favorite, along with my Kuhl The One lined wind-breaker, which also does an amazing job keeping me warm with very little weight. Note that the cut is on the slender side, which I like. But if you plan on wearing a sweater underneath, check the fit.
I love my Spyfire down jacket. A friend of mine wore his to West Yellowstone last winter and I loved how it looked and fit him. I got home and bought one. Very warm (despite what the one star rating person said) and stylish. Thinking about buying the Spyfire hoodie now.
Fits and looks great but it’s not as warm as I would have hoped for the cost. Sheds too many feathers. Lots of pockets which is great. Overall, it’s not a terrible buy but there are likely better jackets out there for the cost
It’s crazy that this jacket has been out forever and no reviews on it yet! I know KUHL can been viewed more as as mountain wear for the city, but this jacket performs! It weighs more than some of the ultralight options such as the ghost whisperer at 16oz but the features and extra warmth are worth it. I wear my ghost whisperer if I’m really trying to save weight and it’s not too cold but in the winter, I’m bringing the Spyfire!
Great jacket. Do not agree with the person who gave it a one star. Have worn this jacket in less than 30 F over a merino wool tshirt and it keeps me warm. Looks very stylish too! Definitely recommend.
Love this jacket. Warm, comfortable, and sleek. Went in looking to buy the Patagonia nano puff and after trying both jackets, I walked out with this one. A little more expensive, but for was perfect and range of motion was fantastic.
Great jacket! Used it in the Smokeys in late November while camping and hiking and did wonderfully, kept me really warm. Currently residing in the midwest and is doing well in temps just under 30F and love wearing it.
