I bought the Kuhl Firestorm specifically for a warm, professional, matte black jacket that I could wear during work-from-home activities. Living in Wisconsin, I needed something that could handle the serious cold but still look "classy" on camera. This jacket has exceeded every expectation. Most down jackets have horizontal rolls that look great for outdoor adventures but don't translate well to professional attire. The Firestorm’s distinct square "waffle" pattern gives it a structured, distinguished appearance that stands out. The matte finish looks sharp on video calls without any distracting glare, and crucially, the fabric is quiet - it doesn't make a rustling sound every time I move during a meeting. The build quality is impeccable; the zippers feel sturdy and smooth, and I appreciate that the front pockets are located behind the insulation. The interior zippered pocket is ample, and the tucked waist cinch is simple and effective. Since the jacket doesn't rely on a lot of elastic, I expect it to age very well. Regarding fit and comfort, I am 6’0” with broad shoulders and the XL is perfect. It doesn't "poof out" in the chest or waist and the sleeve length is spot on. It stays comfortably warm but never overheats me indoors, as the underarm vents do a great job regulating temperature across a range of environments. Whether I’m on a video call or out for a cold Wisconsin walk, this is a premiere jacket that feels both durable and sophisticated.
Comfortable and warm. The is a great jacket for cold Wisconsin!
This is a stylish jacket and the size medium fits well at 6' / 175lbs. However it is thin and just does not keep me warm. It was comfortable at 40F, but I needed more at 30F. Everyone feels the cold differently, but I was looking for more warmth given the advertised 800-fill etc.
I got the woman's version of this coat for myself, and enjoy it so much I bought another for my dad as a gift. He loves it too! We are both tallish with longish arms, and this style fits us great. We both tend to run cold and this keeps us toasty!
Jacket is incredible. The weight is perfect. I like that it is warm but almost wears like a light jacket. I don't know how to describe how strong it feels, but its fashionable at the same time. Might be my favorite coat of all time.
Comfortable and lightweight, yet super warm. It’s easy to wear all day without feeling bulky, and it layers well when the temperature drops. The fit is spot-on and it feels well made. Easily my favorite jacket at the moment.
Super comfortable, lightweight, stylish, and functional; not sure I could ask for anything more! It is pricey, but it will likely take the place of several other jackets.
Warm, comfortable, I haven’t worn it lower than mid 20’s F yet, but I was comfortable in those conditions. The pockets run behind the insulation, so your hands stay warm.
