I LOVE this bike!!!
I absolutely LOVE this bike!! I'm 5'2" and the small size is perfect. The bike is lightweight, the gears shift smoothly and easily, and 1st gear is especially good for hills. I've ridden it at the beach and on the mostly flat bike paths of Sunriver, OR, and it worked great for both. I also love how the handlebars allow me to sit up straight when I ride instead of leaning forward and putting all my arms. I'm attaching a picture of how I spiffed up the bike with a basket with a basket liner and a little bell I painted. So it's practical and pretty!! I wish I'd had this bike years ago!!!!!
Beautiful bike
Just received my bike today and it was absolutely worth the month and half long wait. It’s true to color which I love. The seat is very comfortable. I’m 5’5’’ and ordered the small and I don’t feel like it’s too small at all. The front fender did arrive bent so I contacted REI about it. Since this bike was on backorder still they unfortunately weren’t able to send me a replacement fender but he did give me a credit for the damage. I also added a basket which matches great. The assembly was super easy which was helpful. Excited to get this bike on the road!
Love This Bike!
I am so glad I ordered the Loft. It was shipped pretty much put together, and also shipped with a tool to put the handlebars and tire on that came separate in the box. I am 5'4" and ordered the Small and it is perfect. I have the seat and handle bars set low, so I would say even if you are 5'5" - 5'7" the smaller size would work. Its a really smooth ride and is super cute to bike around the city. I added a basket, bell and cup holder and love it! Definitely a good buy if you're looking for a recreational bike.
Really Nice, Elegant Bike
I have not owned a bike in years so finally, like many people, bit the bullet during the pandemic and decided to purchase one. Of course I did not have the opportunity to try it out before purchasing but was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up. First, the bike is stunning - it is a beautiful seafoam green color, has clean lines and looks really elegant. I purchased this for recreational riding around the neighborhood and maybe the beach, parks and easy trails. This bike suits my purpose. It has speed, can climb moderate hills and provides sturdy support. This is my first bike with gears so that has been a learning experience; however, fortunately, this model has a 1x drivetrain, so it is easier to operate than most bikes that have a 2x drivetrain because you only have to worry about shifting on the right for the rear derailleur. All in all, am pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend.
Great bike for neighborhood cruising w/ my toddler
I’ve had this bike for a little over a month now, and I ride it SO much. It’s a wonderful bike to ride around neighborhoods in. I ordered it online, and my husband set it up. I do wish there was a set-up video online somewhere to follow. But there was a small online book on Electra’s site with diagrams. Most of the bike came assembled though. I attached the burley dash rm child seat to my bike using a planet eco rear rack. I was nervous how sturdy it would be, but it’s SO sturdy! My son LOVES going out for bike rides. The bike handles the weight pretty well. When it comes to some of the hills in our neighborhood/city, those can get a little tough with the extra weight, but I also understand that this bike is meant for more casual rides, so I don’t expect more from it. Plus, I like the extra little challenge of riding up some of the hills with my toddler’s weight lol. But overall, I LOVE this bike. It fits well for my lifestyle and for being able to ride around with my son on it too!! Oh, and I got a size small. I’m 5’1, so I’m pretty short. I had to adjust the seat a bit, but I’m happy I got this size!
Great for Commuters
Great Electra Bike! I had an electra townie 7D that got stolen and replaced it with this model. It is lighter than the Townie and fits better on bike racks and on the racks for the Light Rail Train. I use it to commute to work, grocery store and such as well as enjoy longer rides on weekends. Great buy!
Instructions Insufficient, Breaks Easily
You'd think this pretty bike would be easy to assemble, coming in few pieces in the mail, but the instructions come as a general assembly book and not for this actual model. It's not hard to figure out how to add the pedals and set the seat and handlebar height, but I had no idea where to add the front rim piece because it was nowhere in the instructions. When I looked at the product pics to figure out the placement, I unbolted what holds the brake tension, and snapped the spring out of place in the process. Now I have to pay for a bike shop to reset and replace the braking mechanism because it did not arrive with a crucial bolt and model-specific instructions.
Fun
After time spent in the Netherlands, I had to have an upright bike. I was once an avid cyclist and bike camped/toured, but never liked the bent-forward geometry, even with a custom-built cycle. I have the 7i, and I love it. I take 12-20 mile rides, go to the farmers market or grocery store, and even manage hills with this bike. It is heavy, though I can manage a decent speed when on a rail trail. I wish that someone would manufacture a fitnes bike in this style.
Perfect Mix
If you love the look and feel of a cruiser, but want a little more option with gears, this is the perfect bike! It’s so cute and fun to ride and I can keep up with friends on road bikes pretty well. I bought it for cycling around town in Sacramento and on the river trails. Hills would probably be too much for this bike, though. I bought it online and picked it up in store, it was completely ready to ride and they even inspected it for me before I rode it home.
Worth the wait
I just picked up my bike from REI and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been searching for the perfect bike since April. I preordered this bike about a month ago not knowing when it would be available. Also, the small was the only size available at the time in the seafoam color. I’m 5’7 and based on a review I hoped it would be okay for me instead of the suggested size: medium. When I picked it up from the store they assembled it and the seat was set at the highest setting. To my surprise I will need to adjust it down a little. I live in a city with a lot of sidewalks with hills, as well as dirt bike paths. I would not recommend it on dirt paths. The tires are thin and I would worry it would not hold up. This bike is beautiful, I love the classic look to it and Electra is a brand I trust!
