Bought this sleeping pad for me and my boyfriend after previously having the one person version of this pad. This is not something you want to take backpacking by any means but it is great for car camping. It takes awhile to inflate so I usually unpack it first thing and let it self inflate for about 2-3 hours then use the pump that it comes with. Like my boyfriend said he forgot he was sleeping on the ground because its that comfortable. With this sleeping pad I don't have any concerns about going camping on cold Alaskan nights. Only con is it takes a few attempts to get it packed up.
I exchanged two mega mats to purchase this mat. I had purchased the thermarest coupler and that made the two pretty comfortable, but even though the mega duo is slightly small, no crack in the middle is just better. Also I am looking forward to using this in my honda element with a sleeping platform, so it will serve double duty. The one thing I would warn other purchasers is to look on line for instructions on how to inflate and deflate this mat, mostly I would recommend not using your breathe to inflate this mat so moisture isn't trapped in the cell.
Extremely happy with the comfort this air mattress provides. Hubby and I are in our 60's and hope to be camping years to come. This may even be more comfortable than our home mattress!
My brother and sister-in-law have this pad so I got a chance to try it out. Now I want one for myself and my wife and kids when we go camping. It's very comfortable, light, durable and convenient. Highly recommend.
I received this exped mat 2 weeks ago and took it car camping that next day. I did not give it 24 hrs for first inflate, but did let it inflate in the back of the truck for a few hours, and then also pumped it with air and let it sit for ancouple hours before using it. We slept under the stars on our road trip at 4am. Watched an amazing show from the Pleiades meteors, and slept like babies! My partner who never liked camping because her back would always hurt even said she would go camping again. I already have an exped down mat that i have loved for years- made my camping sooooo much more enjoyable. This new megamat duo is just as well made, easy to inflate, and is going to ladt for years. I love the new little hand pump design that is seperate from the mat itself. The one way valves work super well. The ones on my older mat still seal and inflate perfectly after iwning thr mat for 10 years. I am an exped super fan, and my partner may at least car camp with me in the future. That rocks! Thank you exped!
Originally had the REI sleep kingdom (queen) but returned it after I realized REI carried this mat. Just got back from a 7-day adventure w my gf and it was amazing! It fits perfectly (snug) inside my half dome tent and didn't lose any air. My gf and I both have bad backs and both agreed we had no back pain the whole trip. REALLY wish the carrying sack that it comes with had a handle or something sown into it, air travel with this thing kind of sucks for that reason but the mat is freakin awesome overall
Exped makes a decent product when it works, but does not stand behind their products. I bought an Exped SIM mat. after one use it had a major leak. Exped would NOT replace it and took over a month to repair my virtually new mat.
I bought this over a year ago. I have used it on a few short camping trips and have been gentle on it. It is not stored folded, but rather it is layed out flat to be stored because I heard there are issues with the seams coming unglued and then not holding air. Well guess what. No matter how careful I was, it no longer holds air. I am very disappointed and wouldn't recommend it as a sleeping pad. It's comfy but it doesn't last and is not worth the >$270
This is one of those items you have to try in store before purchasing. I tired the single version and was impressed. By the time I was able to go to the store again with my husband to see if he liked it too, it was sold out. I hope REI restock this double pad again soon before the season starts. It's amazing and would rather purchase here than somewhere else.
