Attaching the Hornet Footprint
Both myself and REI staff were unable to figure out how the front of the Footprint attaches to the tent. After calling Nemo, the answer is that the front 'D' rings are shipped in the reverse position - you have to rotate them 180 degrees to expose the other side that has a slit in the plastic to slide it onto the tent strap.
Necessity for the nemo hornet 1p tent
Great footprint for my nemo hornet tent that I picked up from the garage sale. Its small, lightweight and fits the tent perfectly with a few clips. I appreciate a good footprint to keep moisture out of the tent and help keep things from poking through the bottom. Its so light you wont even notice the weight and it packs so small it wont increase the bulk in your tent whatsoever while adding a bit of protection.
Great for protecting your tent
At first I like many just couldn't figure out how to fit it Contacted Nemo and recieved detailed PDF instructions straight away, like less than 30 mins :) Once you know how, its easy, adds a little weight to your backpack (185grams) but protects nicely the tent floor, So personaliy I do recomend it
Your going to need the footprint
The tent is fragile and I would recommend the footprint. I was baffled about how to hook it to the tent. The picture that came with the directions didn't help. After re-reading the directions, I figured out the slot in the clip on the footprint was hidden and had to be turned 180 degrees to expose the slot for the tent tab to slip into.
Unnecessary
The footprint is extra weight you don’t need, the tent rocks and is waterproof. It’s a great tent. The footprint is just another thing you have to dry out and or wash each morning. Your tent will get dirty and wet on the bottom even with this footprint. I returned mine.
Thanks for the feedback! The shelter is indeed waterproof without the footprint but we do recommend it for abrasion resistance on harsh ground.
Can't go wrong with a fitted footprint
This thing is great, not sure if they made some recent improvements or not, but I really don't understand the issues that people were having. It clips on easily at the head end of the tent and stakes out at the bottom. You can even roll it up with the tent and still fit it in the tent stuff sack!
Great investment to protect my Nemo tent
This footprint fits my tent perfectly. It helps protect the tent floor against sharp objects. The footprint also helps keep the tent floor clean from dirt, mud and sap which helps extend the life of the tent. I used this footprint with my Nemo Hornet during some heavy rains and storms and it is cut so that water did not collect between the footprint and tent floor. The only downsize to it is that it is a bit heavy. For my Hornet Elite tent the footprint weighs almost a quarter of the weight of the tent itself.
What do you say about a footprint?
Not much to say about this other than it kept my tent floor dry after I set it up during a thunderstorm in the Sierras, and I also wrapped it around a sleeping bag that couldn't fit into my pack. So....it works.
Compact and lightweight!
The footprint is extremely lightweight and fits the tent perfectly. I stopped using the bag it was packed in, as it is small enough that you can just roll it up with the tent.
Does not fit.
The 'head' end of the footprint has two corners with black, plastic rectangular-shaped 'clips' that don't actually clip to the tent. Who knows what the clip to, but it is not to the Hornet tent corners. What on earth were you guys thinking when you designed this thing? For the price you really, really need to hire a designer that can engineer a simple 'solution' to attaching the corners of the ground sheet/foot print to the corners of the tent. Really frustrating experience.
Thanks for your feedback! These clips do attach to the tent corners but occasionally they can rotate and hide their openings. We've just sent you a message with further detailed footprint instructions.
