Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent hat but needs some improvement Very similar to the REI Paddler's Hat. I own both. REI could combine the best features of both and offer the perfect hat instead of two decent hats. Pros for the Sahara Outback hat: wide brim, hide-away neck cape, light and cool, decent chin strap cinch mechanism. I do a lot of fishing in tropical areas and the neck cape is great in providing additional sun protection to the neck and ears. BIG Con: no separate head size cinch adjustment. Very hard to keep the hat on in even a slight breeze. The designers tried to do it by using the chin strap cord and wrapping it around, but it just is not adequate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really warm in tropical climate Love the wide brim, but found the hats didn't breathe as well as hoped in the Amazon. Agree with prior review that the hats blow off the head too easily. I purchased a S/M for myself and L/XL for the spouse, and we both had issues. There should be a head sizing string. Also, there is no tag with cleaning instructions, and none offered on the website. The hats really need attention after the trip, but since I don't find anything that indicates what to do, I guess I will just try cleaning with a damp cloth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for desert hiking and field work! I bought this hat for a field job that includes hiking 8 to 10 miles a day in the deserts of Southwestern Utah. It's been great because it keeps the sun off my neck and face. Only problem I have with it is it can't handle strong winds to well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good quality Attractive and good quality. In the wind, even with snug chin strap, the hat moved about on my head.
