Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them! Started out with a pair of $180 Bontragers, overtightened the ratchet and it exploded. While waiting for repair (which was covered by LBS) I bought these and haven't gone back. 3x Velcro is fine, can be as tight or loose as I want (and can get them tighter than ratchet), and hasnt worn out despite using them 4-6x per week for 10 mo now. Comfortable but stiff sole. Decent to walk in, good traction in mud. Highley recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this shoe Good, stiff sole. The last fits my foot well. No need to pay extra for next model up. All you get for the extra $ is a ratchet strap instead of a velcro one. Three velcros are fine. Adjustable cleat position provides variety of positions. Solid shoe. Great value for $.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect right out of the box After buying my wife bike shoes and pedals for Mother's Day, we decided to take advantage of the Memorial Day sale for me. Great advice from the REI associate to choose a size that would be slightly larger than typical. (I usually wear a men's 8 and bought a size 43). The 3 strap configuration allows for fine tuning of the fit and there was plenty of room for my wid feet. I really like that the middle strap closes in the opposite direction as the top and bottom, helping to keep the closure aligned. Went for a ride on a paved trail for an hour and the shoes felt perfect. Properly stiff allowing good transfer of energy to the pedals. No hot spots and no chaffing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for spinning About this product month ago for spinning. My first pair of spinning shoes and they are terrific. They were on the lower end of the range price wise but very good quality. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and answering all my questions and determining best fit for me. I would recommend new shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Shoe for Spinning Class These shoes were recommended to me by the sales associate at REI as a good entry level option for my weekly spinning classes, and they are just excellent. I can get them tight easily, they have a very sturdy but comfortable sole that really allows me to transfer power to the pedals. I hate how mountain biking shoes look (so huge and clunky), but these were definitely a great sleek option and by far the best looking out there that REI offers. Would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe for the $$$ I really like this shoe that I use for my road bike as I think it is much easier to walk in and very comfortable when riding. Very little break in time and like the Velcro straps for adjustment. Make sure you try them on because Shimano shoes run a tad big, I'm usually a size 10-10.5 or 44 and ended up buying the 43 which is a 9.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They Been Great So Far! I used them 3 times already and they been great; they feel comfortable and are easy to clip in to the pedals. Also, I got them pretty wet the first time I used them, but so far it seems it had no negative impact.

The XC31 bike shoes may work for your spin class. Most cycling gyms use SPD pedals which are compatible with the XC31 shoes. We recommend checking with your gym to see what pedals they are using.
