Great hiking shorts!
I work as an outdoor adventure guide so I basically live in hiking clothes. Running shorts make my favorite hiking shorts because they are lightweight, dry fast, and serve as shorts and underwear combo! These are the best! I am 5'5 133lbs and the medium fits perfect and is short enough to be cute but not worry about my rear end hanging out. The built in underwear stay in place and don't ride up. At first I didn't think I was going to like the placement of the built in pocket because it is basically on a butt cheek, but after hiking out of the Grand Canyon in these I didn't notice it at all. I got the navy/shock pink and can't wait to get more pairs!
Flattering and Secure
5'4' 120 lbs and purchased size small. These fit to a t. I've had a problem with running shorts in the past where the sizing seems off - either too large or too tight. I generally end up with a pouch in my crotch area, so I never purchase them. It got pretty how here this summer rather quickly and I wanted to get some color and stay cool, so I got a pair of the Brooks Chaser Shorts and they were terribly unflattering. I exchanged them for these which I was wary of being they are so short. They're actually very secure, they lay flat, and the built in underwear keeps the shorts from riding up or revealing your goodies. For the cost, they're pretty reasonable. Also very flattering around the hip area, which they do not cut in at and give you a "muffin top" like the Brooks shorts gave me.
Fantastic running shorts!
For years I shied away from running in shorts... so many unflattering styles, elastic waistbands and side slits that made me uncomfortable. I always ran in capris, assuming I'd never find a pair of shorts that fit my body. These shorts are the solution! What I like- while they may look tiny (I swore I'd never buy anything with less than a 5" inseam), they are just the right length to flatter my legs. The stretchy waistband is very comfortable and is adjustable with the drawstring- no muffin top and no sagging shorts! An extremely lightweight built-in brief keeps your modesty intact, and the tiny pocket built into the waistband is just big enough for a key, ID, and a gel. Sometimes I wear these for hiking or whatever and the pocket is also big enough to tuck my iPhone 5 into, although I wouldn't want to run around like that. Love these shorts so much, I have them in five colors. As for sizing, I am 5'6", 135 lbs, and take a size medium in this item. Usually I wear a 6 in Patagonia clothes (or size small) and the smalls do fit, but with my runner's booty I like a little extra room to move.
Great shorts for curvy body types
These are great! I have a curvy body type, mostly in my thigh/butt area and I struggle to find shorts that don't get all bunchy. These are super light weight, stay in place really well, and the lining doesn't ride up at all. I'd say they run a little small - I normally wear an 8/medium, and these were best for me in a large.
Great summer running shorts
It's difficult for me to find running shorts that don't ride up between my thighs, but I've found a cute and lightweight option in these Strider shorts! The shorts are perfect for a hot and humid day: breathable, quick drying and loose without being saggy. The negative for me was that they were *just* loose enough, and rode up *just* enough, to cause some chafing. But, using a little Bodyglide takes care of that. Overall, very comfortable shorts with a flattering cut.
cute and comfortable
Well these shorts are officially the shorts I live in this summer. I ordered the purple color and not only do they compliment my skin tone (hey, olive people!), but they fit wonderfully. Just the right inseam, internal undies don't cut into my legs, and the drawstring is added security even though the stretchy waistband is soft and secure. I also love that Patagonia is committed to ethically sourcing their materials and labor. Get these on sale if you can! You won't regret it. *Fit is true to size*
Sizing Strange
The material and product seem great. I usually am a size 4-6 in Patagonia trousers. These shorts in size small were too small though they fit well on the waist and the material feels great. I am 5'6" and 122 lbs. I ordered a medium and will see what happens. Just might want to try these on in a store first.
Go up a size... or two.
Run very small. I am a size 14 in most shorts/pants (or a Lulu Lemon 12) and usually go for an XL. These XL are TINY. I mean, I can get them on, but not flattering in the least. I wouldn't compare these XL's to a size 16. They seem to fit more like a 12. Returning or retrying when I drop these extra pounds.
Great for Curves
I used to hate shorts. They rode up...or down...and they just didn't feel right. I took a chance on two as love Patagonia. I'm glad I order two of these! Usually shorts don't fit my bottom. These fit my curvy shape well and allow me to move during box jumps and lifting. I hope they don't change the cut as I will continue to get these as more colors come out.
